y is every one lifting up 2wd trucks? i just dont get it wats the point. where i come from u lift it up to go through deeper mud and get bigger tires. i dont see very many lifted 2wd trucks goin muddin so y lift it. if im goin to spend the money on a lift and tires it better be 4wd. 2wd are ment to be low and fast.

 

you need to call the prerunner guys and tell them they are dumb for putting a lift, high travel, and off road tires on those 2wds...what idiots

thats like saying why date a skinny hot chick when a fat chick can warm you during the winter and looks dont matter? I dunno bout you but I want my truck to look good whether its 2wd or 4x4, it hardly sees dirt anyway. I bought a yota for that

True, but prerunners are a different beast than just a lift and tires.
I don't understand lifting 2wd trucks either, but then again I'm just not into building a truck for show. Nothing against those that do

 

I have seen 2wd trucks that can get farther while going offroad than most 4wd's. After you have seen a 2wd drive truck pass thru mudholes that most 4wd's get stuck in while trying, You no long ask that question. Of course most of them had lockers.

Then again, I have seen 4wd vehicles that haven't seen so much as a gravel driveway. Spoke to one lady who was actually surprised to find out her pathfinder had 4wd.

2wd isn't only for the street. Course I don't understand at all why the people who do it for looks do it at all. But hey, To each there own.

 

For the most part lifting a truck is ALL for looks. Think about it, When has anyone really went through gnarly enough stuff where the lift actually helped them. Im sure some have but most haven't. Look at border patrol trucks, they aren't lifted but they are off road 24/7. Why do people lift 4x4's so high that its unpractical? Truefully I like the lowered look and the lifted look weather its a 4x4 or a 4x2. It's all for looks man.

 

Ive dragraced my 4x4 and its never seen a puddle taller than 2inchs...........omg im breaking barriers here!

 

You should ask that question to the people that spend the extra money for a 4x4 truck and lift it for looks. That makes even less sense then lifting a 2wd for looks.

Also in some cases at least around here I know a few people that lifted there 2wd just for more clearance when going through the woods at the camp, etc. Where you really don't need 4x4 at all to get through.

 

I've never owned a 4x2 full size truck (I did have a little 4 cyl. 4x2 commuter once). I've hunted and fished deep in the woods since I was about old enough to walk, so owning a 4x4 was always a natural, whether it be a weekend beater or my daily driver.
Hell, when I was married I had three vehicles including the wife's Grand Cherokee and all three were 4x4s!

But around the farms in south Georgia where there are mostly 4x4s, there are a few 4x2s that need to be lifted for the ruts and such around the dirt roads and for going thru the fields where stock height trucks would hang up. Not uncommon at all to see lifted 4x2s with a purpose for being lifted around here...

 

Why would it matter to ANYONE else what I do to MY truck???
If I had a 4x4, I would have been off-road the exact same amount of time....ZERO!
So why bother with the expense of the 4x4 when I would never need it? But I like the looks of a lifted truck, so who are you to tell me I can't do that?

And I have done both (lifted and lowered) so I am a truly unbiased opinion on this.
