Post Fuel Economy

I have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 laramie with the 5.7L Hemi V8 Magnum, I average around 10-11mpg. I really like my truck but the fuel economy is killing my wallet. I already have a cold air intake, Dynomax exaust system, and a JET chip installed. I drive the truck easily to maximize fuel effeciency, but its not enough. I keep seeing ads for a $69 chip for dodge vehicles. It says it gives it up to 60hp and significantly improves fuel economy. If anyone could tell me if they actually work and any extra tips on saving gas/improving fuel effecieny i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Those so called chips are useless and no they dont improve fuel econmy. Your MPG average is very typical for arund town mileage.
Also, your Jetchip is not really anything special. Any "chip" is not good for that matter as they simply advance timing and fool take tep like that 69 chip does. Theyare not actual tunes like handhelds have. You want a handheld tuner such as Supercips or Diablo. Eitherwy, there is nothing yu can do that will make you the money backin saved mpg's.
There is an efan mod guys do, but again, it's maybe 1mpg or so. Ain nothing but parking your truck to get better mpg's.
Why buy a 2500 if mpg is an issue? Most all 2500's I know are under 11mpg city and 14mpg highwy. Heck, my 1500 isnt really any better than that.

Yeah that $69 chip works great, jump on it... NOT...

The Jet is ALMOST as big of a waste.

You own a truck, a 3/4 ton truck no less. 12 mpg around town is pretty much the norm for any 3/4 ton V8 gasser. You could do a REAL tuner like a Superchips or Diablo and an e-fan which combined might net 2-3 mpgs. Of course you'll have about $600 bucks in them you could use on gas as well...

well i was given the chip when i bought the truck by its previous owner and didnt know much about it. I will definately consider buying a superchip for it because my brother had had a superchip for his SRT10 and he also advised me to look into one,

Thanks for the advice

I have a Super Chip and it helps some. But not drastically. With winter gas in town my mileage varies by quite a bit. From a low of 11.7 to a high of 14. in town. I don't highway drive to much so I don't have any figures on that.

its a truck and its hard to get great mpg's out of them, a superchips tuner will help but i found i like it best on the 91 tune running 93 octane it def hurts the wallet as i get avg 14.5 but it is what it is...i love my truck and would only opt for a beater if my career requires further driving....then i would have my truck as a weekend warrior, with less miles....

I think you should buy two. Should be good for 120 hp and 50 mpg.

I found the same thing. I experimented with differant tunes and I get the best mileage on the 91 octane tune. But there doesn't seem to be any where near to but 93 octane so I run it on 91.
