Default 06 hemi compared to 2011 spec

Was just looking at some specs, noticed a huge difference in hp.

390hp and 407lb/ft for the 2011 vs 345 hp and 375 lb/ft for 2006. I see they introduced vvt and prolly increased compression to get those numbers. Or is this 2011 engine a completley different animal and only shares the same displacement and hemi name as the older engine??

But what I also noticed is I heard how our older hemis are made to run on copper plugs but on the new hemi they come factory with platinum tipped plugs. What did they change that it now needs platinum? Cause damn changing 16 platinum plugs got to hurt the wallet.

The new 4.7L 2008+ have 16 spark plugs as well, just like the Hemi. As far as I know, differences include the intake manifold, cylinder heads, and cams to bump the power up in the 09+ Rams. The 4.7L has also been bumped up from the 245hp to 285hp. Pretty impressive...

yea no doubt. The new improved hemi kicks ***.

I was browsing some new trucks. Ford really stepped up their game with the new line of engines for 2011. The 5.0 in the f150 is putting out some impressive numbers. They getting more hp and torque with better fuel mileage then our older hemis
