no. the 268 needs a tune and idle raised. you cannot do that in an 03'

If you got the coin I will sell you my 04 PCM and harness. Then you can get custom tuned and run whatever cam you want.

But until then, IMO, your ONLY options are those Truckin151 said back up in post 65

Either go with the 260 or the FRI Sidewinder and you wont be disappointed. Lope on all of them will be about the same, they should all be around a 114 lsa.

Another thing to note is that all of the guys that posted up soundclips here have Long Tube Headers and cutouts which will magnify that lopey idle and make it come through even better than it would through the stock manifolds and piping. So keep that in mind if you are just wanting the sound. If you are only doing this for the sound, which from every post so far thats what it sounds like, you really need to think this one through.

 

About how much horsepower will the 260 gimme??? And is it a mid range?

 

The 260 is a lowend cam or a tq cam but it will do what you need it to do. It will buikd power early in the rpm range and go to about the 5500rpm range so right where you need it. Power wise, probably an additional 20hp/tq across the board depending on supporting mods

 

if you have a 1500 then your gears are either 3.55 or 3.92s. unless someone before put in aftermarket ones. then it could be 410s, 4.56s or 4.88s (only 2wd)

the 260 is alright but the sidewinder has more power and tq then it and is overall better imo

 

New camshaft and everything to go with it is going to be close to a grand with you doing the install your self anyway.
