Default Anyone heard of this Performance Module?

I know how every Dodge owner is looking for a way to increase gas mileage and Engine performance, well I was on ebay and found this White Lightnin Performance Module. Is anyone running this Module? and if so, How is it? Just seems to good to be true.

1) There's no such thing as adding power and mileage. You can gain one at the expense of the other. This is physics.

2) There's nothing inside that "module" but a resistor. You can make your own for about a dollar. Search for the "power wire" posts, especially the DIY ones.

Those performance module people should be arrested. They sell the same piece of crap with every possible vehicle in the description (even Ferrari and Lamborghini), each promising to be "the real thing" while their competitors are "junk". They're all junk.

If you want more power go with a handheld programmer. You'll spend $300-400 but at least it'll do something constructive.

Pretty much. Most likely just a cheap resistor to fool the temp sensor. Message the guy to get the install instructions so see exactly where their "module" connects to the truck.

Edit: John beat me to it about the resistor part, although im not sure I agree on number 1.

Like they said, it is not going to do anything. However I do not agree with John on his first point. Typically when you gain performance it is making the engine run more efficiently, so you can gain MPGs. However most people do not see much of a gain since they like the feel of power and are on the skinny pedal more.

i would not say that every Dodge owner is looking for a way to increase gas mileage and Engine performance.

Gotta pay to play with this barge.

There are some power adders that will marginally increase fuel economy - provided you stay off the gas. Normal tendency is to USE the extra power when you get it. An increase in power, especially if gained by making the air intake/exhaust more efficient means you don't need as much throttle for the same performance, so, you would benefit in the MPG department.
Obviously, there are also power gainers that would increase the amount of fuel dumped which would lower fuel economy.

As far as these low cost chips or modules that claim to give significant power and MPG gains - SNAKE OIL...

Kind of like Slick 50...if it really worked the OEM's would use it.

This is the response I got from the seller today.

"It alters the information going to the ECU. It is connected to the IAT using provided scotch locks to connect the wire. If the IAT is a combo plug the CTS can be used instead. I provide detailed instructions".

Also, I have a schematics program and can enclose specific wiring diagrams with the module if I have the YEAR, MAKE, MODEL and ENGINE SIZE with the payment (so it does not get misplaced).

Yep, just as we suspected it is just a resistor. If you really want to do one, get airram's plug and play power wire as suggested above. Yeah your still over paying, but the not modifying stock wiring is a plus imho.
