2004 Dodge Ram 1500 IPM/PDC/Fuse Box
My tail lights are not working, fuses/bulbs are OK. Done the continuity test thru the IPM that controls the tail lights, and it shows an open circuit. I guess the control board is prone to corrosion. Dodge knows this and has installed a splash guard underneath where the wiring harnesses plug in. No recall, and they want $600 for the new part. I wanted to know what year of trucks used this same part, or are they specific to each year.
I heard that the wiring harnesses are different between an 04 and 05.Wanted to get some feedback.

No plate lights ...no tails....not even front markers....got to be a "workaround"....600 bucks for a new board...ouch!
Funny everything else works (gonna check the daytime runners now)...

yep looks like cannibalization is about the only feature left open to me, popped off the relay to check for power, relay looks burnt (blue tinge to prongs) and what I think to be the power inlet for the relay (the one closest to the headlight) looks like it fried.
So I am guessing FCM, PDC and back light circuit boards with ground checks to all wires related.
I do not use the truck a lot, my own construction jobs, hunting etc. When running during the day, no problems, daytimes works (front) signals and brakes.
I looked at ebay, matching numbers on the FCM, obviously Canuck truck, USA parts...if I buy used, I may be buying the same problem (if this is a common problem) and buying new...at least here looking at a easy "G" plus my day for a install.
I replaced all the bulbs in the back because I had one tail light out last summer, figured do them all because I had no rev lights, never fixed that.
Besides daytime runners, can I use USA truck parts or will there be a difference?
Maybe just buy a other truck...one with the lights working.
Mine is a ST..reg cab 4x4, 5 spd man, 4.7.
Bought her in 2012...was cheaper than most trucks of the same age I was looking at...maybe I know why?
Again Thanks
