Default Upgrading to a 2500: Power Wagon or 2500 5.7?

I am going to trade-in my '04 QC 4x4 1500 5.7, 81k miles for a 2500. I have narrowed it down to between a 2006 Power Wagon 42k miles, asking $25,800 and a 2006 2500 Big Horn edition 5.7 61k miles, asking $18,700. (prices are pre-haggle and both are similarly equiped minus the PW has leather). I realize many of you would suggest a CTD 2500 but I am cool with the 5.7 and do not have any real towing needs. I am leaning towards the 2500 Big Horn edition b/c of the price differance. Also, I have gathered an impression that the electronic lockers on the PW are not reliable. Are there any other differences between the PW and stndrd 2500 other than the lockers, winch, gears and chrome letters? The truck will be my daily driver, 30 min each way commute with light offroading to go hunting. Any other insight or advice is welcome. Thanks in advance for the help ya'll.

I've never heard of any complaints about the PW lockers. The PW already has 4.56 gears which is a bonus

Power wagons are nice but for the price I would try to get the big horn, unless you could get them down on the power wagon alot

Yeah i agree he needs to haggle, but the mileage is playing a factor here as well...pretty much 20K miles is a decent swing in price....

For the price difference i would think that you could get that Bighorn and mod it to the point where it is similar to the PW for less. $7k can buy a lot of mods...

also to consider is the mileage. neither one looks to have an abnormal amount of miles, but the PW does have less which could be a selling point (don't know your preference on that one)

personally i like the power wagon's but then again we aren't talking about spending my $$

If fuel economy is not a consideration (although it sure ain't gonna be great with a standard 2500 Hemi), get you the Power Wagon...

The power wagon is certainly much better for off-roading but the highway mileage will be worse than a standard 2500. I would check out the gear ratio of the big horn. I would not recommend the 3.73 if you are ever planning to put larger off-road tires on the truck. I think the power wagon is a bit pricy for a 2006 but it depends on how much off-roading you want to do and is it really off-roading or just using gravel/dirt roads.

I would get the powerwagon. It has 4.56 gears (which will increase your in town gas mileage, especially if you get bigger tires) and the resale value will be better. It is the newer body style so I dont think you will have problems with resale.

I haven't heard anything about the lockers. I dunno man. But the suspension parts are upgraded I believe, ball joints and such, so you will save money there also.

Thanks for the responses. The PW has a few extras as well, 37x15.5 BFG Mud Terrain that look worn and prob need replacing, I assume a lift b/c of the 37's and an Air Raid CAI. I was thinking $23k for the PW (maybe lower b/c it needs new shoes?) and $17.5k for the 2500. The dealership offered $13.2k for my truck mentioned above. Am I out to lunch on my prices? My wallet says 2500 Big Horn and this Georgia mud says PW! Thanks again.
