Truck was supposed to be done tomorrow, now they're telling me the 13th. I am so done with this damn rental Impala!
You may want to check state insurance laws, we had that issue when my ex wife got hit in her Grand Cherokee. Insurance tried to use all aftermarket crap and Georgia Law said they had to use OEM if we specified it...

I'll have to check into that. If the replacement is at least metal of like-quality to OEM, I won't bother because I really just want my truck back, and the bumper is coming off anyway.

even OEM parts nowadays can be crappy.. when my truck got hit (passenger side) the body shop went through multiples of each part needing replaced until they found things that fit properly.. First door they got was terrible so they sent that back tried another one and even it wasn't up to par for them.. They ended up calling around and found a ram that had been smashed in the back and found a door that fit properly to them.. Same thing happened with the fender.. first one they got from OEM was a bit off so they got another one.. luckily that one was good. Body shop even showed me pictures of the parts they got that didn't fit quite right..

Granted the body shop people I took the truck too were pretty particular which was why I took it to them.. They even fixed some of the factory lines that weren't that good to begin with. Like the bed lining up laterally with the cab... rarely do I ever see a ram that has the bed lined up perfectly with the cab.. they don't build em like they used to lol

As long as it fits properly and they do the paint work properly you will be just fine OEM or not.

I noticed that about my bed too. At first, I thought maybe it was in an accident before, but turns out it wasn't, it just doesn't line up LoL
If you were to be able to get high above the truck and look down at the cab and bed, you'd see the bed is cocked somewhat towards the passenger side of the truck.
Not really noticeable unless you're really OCD like I am though.

haha yea man I noticed it right off the bat with mine and I am the original owner.. when I got it back from teh body shop after my wreck I saw a few imperfections and was like WTF... so I decided to compare them to my dad's truck which is a 2006 identical to mine.. same bed/cab and color.. So what do ya know each imperfection matched up perfectly.. So glad I'm not an idiot and didn't go back to the shop bitching haha.

it's not just dodge either I work at a custom shop and we see all sorts of stuff.. I was doing some work on a chevy tahoe and had a lot of the rear off the truck (tailgate, bumpers, lighting) and I noticed before I started how the tail lights didn't fit perfectly against the body... truck was brand new... never wrecked or nothing..

but like they say it's the quirks that make it yours.

I should have known better by how light it was when I installed it alone.

I wanted a full replacement bumper, like the ones here or even better, here; but my insurance won't even let me pay the difference. Either I let the insurance cover the cost and get all OEM equipment, or I fix it all myself, which I can't do right now. I thought about the SRT10 hood as well, but could only find FRP and CF replacements. Same deal with the hood and grille though, OEM or nothing.

I will not knock my insurance company for that though, and I will say, for anyone in the service, USAA is one of, if not the best insurance you can get. Very polite to work with, and they took care of everything for me. They set everything up with the body shop I selected, called the rental company for me, and even setup the towing without any interaction on my part. I couldn't be happier with the service.
I will have to remember that about Texas law. Only been here a year. I agree, USAA is great. I've been with them 12 years plus now. I do appreciate my RAM's steel bumpers. I backed into a Ford Expedition while still in Utah. It had a plastic bumper--not good. $1500 in damage. My RAM just laughed.
