Default Need new tires. Give me some suggestions :)

Well winter will be here in a few months and living in Cleveland usually means we get good snow. What are some good aggressive tires for handing snow, mud, and all the good stuff.

I do most off roading when hunting and I need the tires to be good for that as well.

Thanks

unfortunately, the things that make a tire a good mud tire, make it a poor snow tire on pavement. An aggressive tread with big honkin' blocks and large voids is the last thing you want for hard packed snow and ice, which call for more surface area and lots of siping.
A good compromise would be an A/T tire, something like the Terra Grappler, Mickey Thompson ATZ or Firestone Destination A/T...

I've always stated that for me, it was going to be M/T ATZ's on classic II's. But now that we are considering property in NE AZ I have been looking at the Goodyear Duratrac for the simple fact that they are one of the few wich meet Sever Snow Service Standards.

It would be nice to have a tire that can handle the desert trails of Central AZ and the snow covered roads/trails in the mountains/high-country during the winter.

Just my .02

Be careful with those Duratracs on a heavy (4x4, QC) truck. LOTS of documented sidewall failures. The tire is THE staple for Wrangler and other light 4x4 owners, but they have a relatively weak sidewall that has issues when a vehicle gets up around 6k lbs., even the "E" rated tires have many documented failures.

I love the tread pattern, like the Cepek FCII and the Interco M16, it's one of the few TRUE All-Terrain/Mud-Terrain hybrids, but I dunno if I'd trust it on a full size, QC, 4x4...

I have been pleased with "Perilli Scorpions" going up into the Catskill Mtns. NY in winter with snow and ice,Also have been hauling heavy loads of hard wood rounds for a few years now. They have worn down evenly by rotating every 4K miles.Next time I go out to the truck I will check the miles and years i have had them and post it.I am retired now and plan to put on a set of highway treaded tires,no more snow driving for me.

I use MasterCraft Courser 285/60/20 in Indiana and they do fine when in the deer woods and driving to work 30 miles on pavement

I just got a set of Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires and I'm very very very happy with them. Wet traction is absolutely fantastic.. no road noise whatsoever and they look great.
