Would you buy this truck? See pics and carfax!
Looking to buy a 2005 Ram 1500, but after getting the carproof I am not so sure any more. Reason why I am not sure is a: it's been stolen and the repairs were quite high and b: the odometer was higher in 07/2007 than in 11/2007 which is kinda weird. The truck itself looks really sharp though, no dents no scratches nice leveling kit and rims/tires installed.
A Dodge dealership is selling the truck and the guy told me "The unit belonged to one of our better customers, one owner unit, It is on our lot as a consignment unit for him, he wants to move it price recently dropped 5,000. I would recommend unit to anyone."
When I asked him about the repairs done he said "I talked to our service writers and the non collision claims sound like the engine and transmission would have likely cost the 7919.00 engine/ 4601.59 transmission."
What do you guys think? Attached the carproof and some pics of the rig!

They dropped the price from 15k canadian to 10k canadian. They said it's a consignment vehicle, it's been sitting on their lot for 3 months now and has to go. It's a pretty good price from a canadian standpoint.
I'm trying to negotiate a "peace of mind inspection" prior to purchase. Dealer said I can have a free one after I put down a deposit but I want to know before I pay the money what's going on.

Take it for a test drive, and while you're out have someone lined up to take a look at it. Awful lot of cost in repairs, and if they know this customer so well how do they not know what exactly was done to it?? $3300 on left rear, sounds like it was smacked. Make sure it drives straight(no dog tracking)
And you can make any truck look that pretty. The few thousand your saving by buying a truck with some mods may cost you that in the long run if somethings not right.
Dropping the price 30% after 3 months????
Make sure it's a refundable deposit, and take it somewhere else for the inspection.

CARFAX reports can be misleading... just because they don't show any more past repairs doesn't mean they weren't done. I have never gone 100% by what the CARFAX reports show. I would use those reports to get the seller to bring down the price, but I would NEVER consider them to be "peace of mind" for any consideration when buying. I cringe while crossing my fingers when I hear of people feeling good about their vehicle purchase because it had a "clean" CARFAX report...
My apologies if I seem to be raining on the parade here, but I feel the need to offer my $.02 on the subject. The decision is ultimately up to you. I fully agree with having it tested before making the decision!
