Default Best mpgs out of a 3rd gen

Preferably from experience. I want opinions from you guys. What would be the most fuel efficiant version of a 3rd gen ram I know Full size truck and fuel efficient don't match. But I'm just looking for the best scenario

Probably reg cab for weight Probably 2wd. But I'm wondering motor wise as well. Maybe a tuned diesel. Or a v6. Or maybe the 4.7. Or how bout the mds hemi

Also manual or auto.

Let's hear it. What u guys think would produce the best mpgs.

The Hemi will give you mileage equal to the 4.7 and it won't crack heads/blow head gaskets. Are you replacing the Mega?

A 5.9L Cummins will give you the best mileage hands down

Lol wel there it is. Pretty much daily if not more I think about how I can get myself into a diesel.

No I'm not getting rid of my mega. Well not anytime soon. Laid off barely making payments is no position to rebuy.

Just playing around with the idea of a decent fuel efficient Truck. My mega gets like 9. Which I was wel aware of when I bought it. But that was when I was getting lots of hours working. Now. I regret it every day. But I still love the truck. Just wish it was a cummins

If we all could be in diesels im sure alot of us would be. Diesel might be more expensive fuel and maintenance wise but it seems like it would be worth it to me

Diesels may seem expensive but in reality everything goes a little farther. You get better MPG, oil change intervals are a little longer, and the motor lasts forEVER. I would buy a quad cab 5.9 cummins if I could.

The cost of diesel has never been a concern because of the pros of a diesel. And also because my hemi takes 89 so it's not like I'm getting regular anyway.

The problem with me has always been the purchase price. I got my 06 4x4 mega Laramie with 26s for $26000 with 30000miles. If it had the diesel it would have been close to 40 grand unless it had like 100000 miles. And even then itd still be more. After this truck tho Im not settling for anything less

My megacab hemi 4x4 gets 9.5 city, 14.5 hwy. I have 4.10 gears... City driving is 1000ft climb over 4km (2.5 miles). Hwy is flat terrain, 55-65 mp/h. Pulling 5000lb rv in the mountains, 9.5 mpg. I am running 285/70/17 BFG all-terrain tires (about 32 inches tall). I run the Tow tune all the time.
The diesels do better, but only if you leave them alone. Start tuning and dumping on the go pedal and it can do quite poorly as well. My brother has an 07 3500 mega dually, and he might get 11 city... driving like he stole it and tuned to performance.

Hearing your mpgs of your hemi mega I don't feel bad. I have 37s right now. It's not good but it's also not horrible. Its Atleast hovering over 10mpgs. I don't need a diesel cus I don't tow or do anything that required a truck. I just like a full size truck and it seems that's diesel is the ultimate. Long lasting, efficacnt Blah blah just outta my price range for now.

As of now I drive an old Honda for better mpgs. But I hate it. Anything other than my truck just isn't the same. I figure getting a diesel will allow me to drive what I want and afford to do it haha
