Talking Painted My Grill *PICS*

These past couple of weeks have been my war against chrome on my friend's F-250 and my Ram, and today I decided to tackle my Ram's grill and paint it white. I didn't really expect a perfect match with my paint and the Plasti-Dip, due to me reading a few threads about that exact issue and the fact that this is, after all, Plasti-Dip and not really meant to match the white paint found on our Dodge's. But seeing as how painting my chrome is pretty out of the question at this time it's the best solution for me and if it didn't work out I can always peel it right back off.

That being said, it didn't turn out TOO bad. You can tell they're different whites up til about 15-20ft away but further then that the Plasti-Dip matches well enough not to warrant a 2nd glance.

Next up is the chrome bumpers being Plasti-Dip'd black, and MAYBE stripping this off the grill and going black there too but I'm undecided on that part.

Thanks for checkin' it out

Looks pretty good to me. Can't really tell a shade difference from the pics. I like it in white. To me, black plastic would look too much like a fleet vehicle.

Did you make him do the Truffle Shuffle afterwards?

I'm 100% with Chet on this one. When the chrome are painted black they look far to close to a Utility vehicle, causing it to look more cheap.

That looks real good. I've been thinking about painting my grill black, but maybe white now that I see how your's looks. The Ram Head is real nice! Also try and keep us posted on how well the plastic dip holds up to rock chips and what not, I've always wondered that.

Hahaha no must've slipped my mind to ask him. The black actually doesn't look too bad for the chrome on the bumpers, just not sure how it'd look if I did it to the grill too. Probably look like a work truck like you guys said.

Here's a few pics of my friend's F250 with the bumpers painted for reference:

Were those bumpers painted with the plasti-dip and the glossifier as well?

NICE! I should rephrase with my full thought: I think the bumpers would look good in black, but I don't think I'm too keen on the crosshairs being painted black. I guess I can see the shade difference in the close up of the Ram's head (which looks really good, BTW!). To me, though, it looks like it's more of a texture difference than an actual "paint" difference, so it's not as glaringly obvious as when someone has mismatched shades of sheet metal, or the like.

Very cool stuff!

Hey you lifted the rear more too!!??

Looks good, I like it a lot. I would leave grill white and go black on the bumper.

No, they were just sprayed with the black plasti-dip, nothing else.

Exactly. You'd have to get up close and look at it to really notice the difference in the coloring. When I'm driving by or even from more then maybe 10/15ft away you can't tell. And yeah the texture is the main reason for the difference but its Plasti-Dip, not paint, and that was expected.

Haha no actually the rear is the same as before, I only lifted up the front end. And that's exactly what I'll be doing with the grill and bumpers.
