Default Star Tron MPG

Well I am testing Star Tron with 89 E10 to see if I can get the same MPG I get with 87 without E10. I got 12.6 MPG with 89 E10 on my last tank, and I ran it down to 1/16 before I filled up and added 2.5 ounces of Star Tron. With 87 I get about 14 - 15 mpg with everyday driving. I should have this tank gone in about a week, or so and I will update this post. Since the owners manual recommends 89, and 87 is the only thing I can get here without E10 I thought I would give this Star Tron stuff a try. Someone on here recommend it, so we will see.

For those who don't know Star Tron is an additive to help engines running Ethanol, and is sold usually in the marine section at Wal-Mart and other retails for about $10 which treats 128 gallons. I figured this would last about 4 fill ups for me.

You can get more info from there website.

Is 89 e10 cheaper for you than regular without? Its like a 10 cent difference for me. I can get regular no ethanol for 3.89 and regular ethanol for 3.79 right now, and premium 93 no ethanol is 3.99

Yes it is $.10 cheaper it is also cheaper even when I add the Star Tron by a little bit.

So far I am getting 15 mpg on the over head console. Usually it is around 12.5 to 13 mpg, and I have 50 miles on this tank so far. We will see next week when it needs to be filled up again and I hand calculate the mpg to see where it ends up. I would say so far it is looking pretty good, and I should end up with about the mpg I get on regular 87.

There are multiple threads about StarTron in various sections of this forum.

I find IF I can get 93 octane non-ethanol fuel I get about 2-2.5 mpg better than on 93 octane E10, but the non-ethanol is getting harder for me to find here, there is only one station with it within reasonable distance and it's a mom/pop station that doesn't take credit cards - and with the price of gas, it's a PIA making sure I have $75 for gas on me. My bank is 12 miles away in the opposite direction of my house so I pretty much say screw it, don't take a credit card these days, then you don't want much business.

So I started putting StarTron in my tanks in September of last year (already had been using it in my outboard, lawn equipment, etc. with excellent results). I don't quite get the 2-2.5 mpg gains as using ethanol free, but it does result in about a 1-1.5 mpg gain over E10 without StarTron, PLUS just like with running ethanol free, my engines seem to idle smoother and just run better over-all...

Oh you don't have to tell me! Carb'd engines HATE ethanol! I was replacing gas lines & primer bulbs as well as having to clean out carbs all the time to keep my yard sh*t, generators, etc. running. Ain't had to do it since I've been putting StarTron in all my gas...

I've been using StarTron for about 3-4 tanks now. Mileage seems to be getting a little better with each fill up. So far I've gone from an average 11.2mpg to about 13.5mpg. Not too bad for a 7,000lb truck on 34's..

That's right about what my truck weighs (and it's not a Mega!) and you are about where I am on 35s. I am usually about 1 or 2 tenths from 13.5 every time I check it by hand calc...

You got 4.56's don't you? I've still got the POS 3.72's.. For now anyways. I'm barely lucky enough to get in the double digits around town.
