behind grill fog lights
hey guys, just kinda wanted to know what lights your using and where your mounting them behind your grill? they look really good, maybe i might do it one day. thanks!
I got Hella 500ffs behind the grill and are wired in on a switch of their own. A few people wire them in with their headlights but I didn't like that idea. Here are a couple pics of mine:

I changed my covers a little bit.

I have Hella 500's as well. Followed Dirty Dogs step by step instructions. I would never consider wiring them to always come on with the headlights because it is illegal in many states and a waste. Why put the load on your alternator and use up bulb life when their is no need to?
I'm considering it but IMO it's more of a offroad style. The stock lights really do work great with stock bulbs. My wifes '06 SI sucks at night unless you run the brights all the time lol. People use Hella's because they are big and thin to allow to mount in tight spots, at least that's my best guess.

I bought a complete KC kit off ebay a couple years ago. Super-easy install. Mine are wired for a separate switch right now, but I'm contemplating having them wired into the brights. I can't think of a situation where I'd rather NOT have the extra illumination if I'm in an area at night requiring the use of high beams... and I use my brights a lot around here. Also, I need both hands to drive, so it's very difficult to be reaching back and forth to turn on/off the KC's when I need that hand for the throttle/brake hand controls.
I am using some off-road lights that I found new in the box in my garage...Wife's uncle had bought them about 30 years ago, and never used them...As far as mounting and wiring, I mounted them just like everyone else, on the lower support, and wired them up to their own switch.
Very well engineered and functioning devices exist such as the Brite Box which can solve issues of inadequate lighting. They are a much easier install then aftermarket fog lights. No need to run wires into the cab and mount a switch, no holes to drill or finding a mounting location for the lights.
They make three versions. One version allows your low beams to stay on when you turn your brights on which makes a huge difference. Then they have one that allows you factory fogs to stay on with your high beams. The other keeps your factory fog lights on with your regular headlights and your brights. That puts out a TON of light. These systems do this without putting dangerous loads on your factory wiring. I had one in my 01.5' Cummins Ram and it was great.

Not as cheap as installing a typical set of fog lights but just as effective and allows you to keep a more stock looking truck if that is what you like.
