Hammer I think we've talked about body lifts before somewhere. Do me a fovor please, can you post a pic of your truck completely from the side? Not angled but actually looking at the side. I want to see how much room you have in the wheel well/ fender area

At roughly $400 for a PA 3" body lift I wouldn't call that expensive since the Rancho 4" suspension lift is around $2000 with shocks. I thought seriously about adding a 3" BL some time ago but since I won't put more than 35" tires on an IFS truck and the fact I use my bed a lot, coupled with the fact that because of the winch mounted to the frame a LOT of fabbing would have to be done, I decided to stay right at 4".

This is the same 4" of lift you have with 35"x12.5"X17" tires, although since I'm a torsion front and you're a coil front, the lifts are a bit different:

What I meant is I wouldn't like the bl on my truck cuz I'm not going bigger than 35's. With 7" lift 37's are a have to. Now that I've seen yours I'm happy with how it will look. Anyway while we are in the classroom, what type of differential should I go with? Limited slip or automatic locker? What's the difference between those and my stock diff?

i believe are trucks stock are already limited slip diffs. Most guys upgrade to a locker like a detroit.

I've seen too many IFS trucks snap CV axles with 37s, couldn't imagine being able to support 40s. That's definite SFA territory, but good luck with it.

About 60% of the 3rd Gen 4x4s shipped with LSD, but it's a very poor LSD, even without the broken clip issue, it doesn't perform very well.

If the truck is a daily driver, LSD is the best bet, either an Auburn or Detroit TruTrac. For more of a weekend truck a locker is fine, but they ratchet pretty severe when turning on pavement. Obviously a locker gives better traction, but most guys I know who have put them in daily driver trucks have ended up taking them out because of how undriveable they are on pavement.

A selectable locker is the single best solution, but they can run close to a grand in price and if someone makes one for the 9 1/4" AAM rear end, I'm not aware of it. Again, these are things made for SFA trucks with 10.5" and larger axles...

Yea that's what's wrong with running 37's. I love 37's but a dodge 2500 is really the best all around truck for lifts, big tires, and offroading, not a 1500. And about the differential sorry I don't know what I was thinking. I know I got the lsd (what's bad about it btw?) I meant to ask about automatic vs selectable. I've never heard of a selectable locker for anything other than a jeep or something small like that. Would a better lsd help me offroad much? Cuz they're typically not great offroad

And Hammer, would purchasing a stronger cv axel be enough to run 37's? Sorry bud you're getting bombarded by questions here!
