You do have the 3.55's then. This picture was taken with those gears a few years ago with original tires.

So, in regards to the gearing, what is better? Lol. Sorry if that's too general, but I'm a little dumb when it comes to drivetrain stuff.

the higher the gearing (3.55 compared to lets say 4.10) is better for towing and makes your truck feel lighter because the engine doesnt have to work as hard. lower gearing gets you a little bit better fuel economy on the highway but isnt as good for towing/holeshots. and hemi4109, thanks for the info.

Five seven, Did your truck come with 20 inch wheels. I believe all hemi trucks with 20 inchers had 3.92 axle from the factory, and all 17 inch wheeled trucks had 3.55. Since 3.55's on a truck with shorter tires, will still have the same or nearly the same rpm's at a given speed, as trucks with the 20's, and the 3.92 ratio. But yes ur right about counting the driveshaft turns. Divide one turn of the tire into however many turns of the driveshaft= your gear ratio

imo i personally think that it was whatever part was closest to the tech at the time of assembly. some came with 17's and 3.92's. Some came with 20's and 3.55's. some 20's came with 3.21's Some 20/3.55's came with open diff, some even had 20's lsd and 3.21's. good ole dodge lol.

Well the go-cart is in the garage and although pretty impressive for a 4 banger, it's definately not a hemi I think it would keep up to my truck around town with the old 3.55 gearing but not with the 4.56's. It doesn't pull as hard as the truck but more evenly for sure with the turbo flatening out the torque curve from around 1800-5500 rpms. Combined with the light weight of the car, it does move pretty well. Now makes me wish I had a turbo in the truck! haha.
