Default Exhaust - I really did search

Ok, I know that threads like these can be annoying, but I really did search and came up with next to nothing.

I have an 03 Ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 Hemi, and have been shopping around for exhaust lately. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices, but have a couple last questions.

1) Gibson single side swept cat back. I've had Gibson before on an s10, but that was a 4-cyl. I've listened to multiple youtube clips, but would like some personal opinions. I believe it's part # 616571.

2) JBA single side swept cat back. Never had any experience with JBA, nor have any of my friends. I've heard a couple youtube clips and it doesn't sound too bad, but would like some real life feedback. Part # 40-1527.

Otherwise, the truck is stock performance wise. Only other mods I plan on doing are an intake and a tuner. That's about it. I'm not trying to make the truck super fast, just want it to sound a little better and breathe a little easier. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I have gibson. It is what the call the sport side dual catback. Not real loud but rumbles nicely when you step on the gas. Problem with mine was that even though i ordered the correct part number for my truck, they never tested or developed it for the 20" wheel package. So, one of the pipes was rubbing my spare. I wrapped it with exhaust wrap and that kept the heat away but the wrap eventually rubbed a hole and then burnt a chunk of my spare off. I recently had the one pipe rerouted to exit out the other side and all is fine now.

Never heard of the other brand you mentioned.

Both are pretty good brands for the price they are. BUT if you want to save some money find yourself a good shop and then buy any muffler you want (just not flowmaster) and then get a Magnaflow Y pipe and have the shop fab up whatever exit design you like. Should cost about $300-500 maximum depending on muffler and what the shop charges for labor

Thanks for the input, fellas. I think I'm going to go with Gibson. I really liked it on my S10, and like what I've heard on youtube.

Thanks for the pics. The one that I'm going to get is a single side swept.

Oh...that brings up another question, though.

There are 2 options for the exhaust. A 2.5" and a 3". I haven't gotten under the truck to measure the stock exhaust, but from what your pics are I assume you went with the 2.5" correct? Is that what I need to go with?

I believe you can go to gibson's website and enter your vehicle info and it will tell you what part numbers fit, even if you dont buy from there. 2.5 sounds right though. If i just wanted more sound and was staying with single exit, i would probably modify it to just dump under the truck, out of sight. Just my opinion though.

Ok, thanks for all your help. I'm going to go with the Gibson system with the part number I posted. Here's to it sounding as good as I hope!

I used to have that exact exhaust on my 02 4.7 it sounded good but after having it a couple months I cut the tip off that way you couldnt see anyting. I like that look better and it made it sound better in my opinion and was a little louder
