If youre still gonna need a truck and dont have any reason to doubt your baby mechanically, I think youre already off the cliff. I think 8-10k is not realistic right now if you want a buyer in a sane timeframe who is willing to drop cash, esp considering the condition. Even though your mileage is relatively low (why are you selling again?), there are too many deals out there to expect a quick sale (or maybe im wrong, if mechanically she will woo anyone who looks at her).

I'm at about the same mileage on my 03. Over time I have been replacing things here and there as it gets worn out. Not counting the modifications, I've come out way ahead of a new payment with repairing/replacing things as I go. I bought it with 28,000 on it and it feels as strong or stronger at 120,000.

I have an '05 that has 129K on it and since I've paid it off, I decided I would put the 450.00 that I used to pay monthly into the truck.
It IS my work truck but I still get compliments on it (mostly because it has the quad cab and an 8' bed so it's long and black).
So far I've put on a new tri fold tonneau, new Dodge floormats and a new Kenwood Head unit along with a little Kenwood sub. I also put on a CAI that I built myself and I think tinting the back window and maybe an exhaust are the only two things I'd still want to do.
Although I do still look at the 4th gen trucks with the 20" wheels and duel exhaust and I dream a bit...just a tiny bit though.

I don't think there's a right answer until you either drop big bucks to repair something or look back in 5 years and realize it's the best decision you've ever made. Mine's also coming up on 10 years soon and has much lower mileage than yours but I've decided to drive it until the wheels fall off like many others ou there. Now I have no reason to believe it won't run for years to come, but I'm sure it won't be too many years before I start to see rust and have to change my break pads for the first time . Even if it costs me 500 a year for misc parts and little repairs, at least by now I've got the bugs worked out and the shocks/tires/gears I want which would be hard to justify changing on a brand new truck. I'm not hung up on the appearance of my truck so dings and dents really don't matter and I can use it any way I want without worrying about it.

You all make some very valid points. No sense in trying to keep up with the jones' by having the newest stuff. My biggest fear though is to fix up my current truck: re-do the paint, tires, etc and then next thing i know the tranny blows. I do tow a 21ft wake boat regularly and it is my daily driver. Decisions Decisions.
I mean the way my truck sits now, it would be very expensive to replace, I have wheels and tires, leveled, train horn, a HUGE stereo system, and a bunch of little stuff.
The hard part also is that I do need the truck so it would be a big inconvenience to sell it and wait how ever long it takes to get into a new one.
Im thinking my best bet is to just run it how it is.

Well, if your like us regular people who aren't made of cash and have to buy things for ourselves, I would stick with your old girl. Seriously. I've sold a couple of my old vehicles and wish I hadn't. My old 1987 Nissan pickup was my first love (it also shared my birthday, lol) and it ran like the day it came out of the factory. I guess it only having 80,000 kms on it in 2006 helped too.
But I miss it dearly. Just don't fall for the "flashiness" of new vehicles. The oldies are still goodies!

im thinking of doing a similar thing kx250. i have an 04 with 63k on it and im looking to get into a CTD. im looking at one right now with 210k and its an 02, some tasteful upgrades for 12,900 but i think he would take 11,900 or 12. i kbb'ed my truck and i could get around 12,500 for it if i sell it on my own. that would pay off my loan and i would be at about the same payments im at now with my hemi.....tough choice, i know what youre going through.
