The edges of the plate are behind the pipe not underneath.

Not talking about the edges of the plate, wondering if there is a pvc junction being covered by the plate. If not the plate is useless, because the pvc is smoother than the plate. the plate would only be of any benefit if it was protecting the ac hose from the sharp edge of a pvc junction

I didn't want the paint on the pvc to rub off from contact with the hose.

The 4 inch K&N cone filter that I got form AutoZone was too big. It was wedged up against the housing of the original airbox at a bad angle. I need a 4 inch filter that is a little shorter in length/height. Can someone reply with a 4inch K&N part number that fits?

You have to remove the old housing.

How do you remove the lower part of the airbox housing. I removed the two bolts that fasten it to the inner wheel well but it won't budge. I see two grommets, not sure if they are holding it in but maybe I need to force it out.

Just to be clear I'm talking about the piece that the housing slides on to. It has two posts that stick up.

I'm pretty sure it just pulls off of those, it's been a while since I took mine out, I will try to take a look today and let you know.

I'm not talking about the airbox itself I have that out. Its the mount that the air box slides on to. This is a picture of what I'm talking about.
