More MPG?

Same excuse I use to justify my highway car! If i'm on the highway without the fifth wheel, it's because of work so now the mileage I charge out pays for the car and the money I save on gas more than pays for insurance. Whether it makes sense or not it sure is a lot of fun this way :P Now the biggest problem I have is deciding which one I take to the office! Sadly winter will make my decision easier real soon.

This might not be the answer you want to here but here's what I did to increase fuel economy in my 13 MPG 1500. I went out and bought a fiesta. I now average 38 to 40 MPG's in that rollerskate on my all around rural driving. With the miles I put on: gas, added insurance, and payment together are still a couple hundred a month less then I would pay strictly on the truck in gas. The down payment I made will let my 35" tires last a couple more years, cancelling that out. I did the math many times and no matter how I added it up adding the baby car comes out cheaper. I now have my ram as a fishing/hunting/work truck which should last alot longer now.
I just figgured I'd throw that out there because with these trucks, you get what you get when it comes to MPG's. Not too much you can do about it without spending alot for a little.

That said, of all my over $13,000 in truck mods, the only one that can pay for itself in fuel savings has been my efan...

I don't think I'd fit in a hyundai lol.
I get 11ish in a mountainous rural area. I have a literal fleet of 4 and six banger Volvos, some turbo some not. All better on gas... But I don't choose the truck for the mileage, I choose it because it's alot more fun. Don't get me wrong though, I love the Volvos too... Anything pre 95ish are practically bulletproof. Had a 93 four banger wagon, I was the third owner, had 411k when I gave it to a friend. She ran it with no oil changes, low on oil, no maintenance whatsoever and got another 40k out of it. Only reason it died was because she got tboned.

Yep, after six years of having a lifted, V8, 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee as my daily driver I sold it and bought a 2013 Hyundai Accent. Not a bad looking car as cars go and I'm averaging just a hint under 40 mpg in about 50/50 city-highway driving. My 14 MPG truck stays parked until I need it or want some weekend activity.

^^^ This. I live across the street from my university now so I either walk to class or work (I work on campus as well) if I'm feeling up to it or ride the bike one of my co workers gave me for free because it was too big for her. The only time I drive now is to go to the store, run errands and drive to PT in the morning because no one wants to ride their bike to PT at 5 in the morning lol. Moral is only drive the truck when you need to and you'll make the tank last longer. I've gone 3 weeks and used a little over half a tank.
