Default 2005 Ram 1500 Hemi?

Hey guys,

I've been in the market for getting a new truck for over a month now. I've been looking at 2nd Gen Hemi Durango's and the 3rd Gen Ram 1500's. I want the Hemi. I saw an 05 that I will be looking at tomorrow and it's such a nice truck. I've been reading posts that the 03 and 04 Ram's have problems with valve springs and was wondering if the 05's have the same problem?

No sir, most on the 3rd gen forum would regard the 05 Ram 1500 the best year for a 3rd gen.

06 switched to a CANBUS system along with the ugly facelift, and not to mention, the idiotic idea of making our HEMI's a four banger. But enough of that

The 05 shouldn't have the valve spring issues, mine hasn't

The canbus was a terrible thing though.

I have an 04 ram 1500 qc 5.7 with 70 k on it. My list of problems go like this.
egr valve replaced once
Directional flapper for the heater in the dash replaced two times. This is a hole dash tear down.
I am on my third radiator and water pump.problem fixed ?
o2 sensor replaced which can be expected .
Rust inside both of my rear box panels, Rusted from the inside out, I under coated and rust proofed the truck when it was new and bought the wheel well covers and installed them. The ram assistance center paid half to repair the right side box panel I paid the other half. They declined to help/fix the other side so I have a rusty truck now at 70k .

Things that act up that could not be duped and were not fixed.Passenger side window will not roll down from the drivers control except when it is at the dealer.
4x4 sticks and pops out of gear. The light goes off but the truck is still in 4x4 until it decides to go back to 2 wheel on its own.
My # 33 fuse blows but not at the dealer. I have put $150 worth of new lights on three trailers and all still blow the fuse .

I get about 11 mpg. I will sell you my truck for 15k I just put on new tires aligned it new third radiator and water pump, o2 sensor .I will be sitting on the edge of my seat for your reply .

Thanks for the reply's guys.

May I ask what you think about this 05 for the miles and price. It's got 92,000 miles for $14,975 but the dealer said he's negotiable.

Here's what it looks like. It's very clean and out. The only flaw is the small dent on the bottom of the drivers side door but they said they will get it out.

Thanks again!

$14975 for an 05 with 92,000 miles is way to much in my book.I paid 15888 for my 05 in 07 with 30,000 miles.do a blue book on it and see what its worth.as of right now mine is worth 10585 with 106000 miles on it

Went to KBB and for excellent condition it said $14,771 without the options selected. This one is pretty much excellent besides the small dent on the drivers door. This truck has the aftermarket rims, sunroof etc... I'm sure that jacks up the price a little bit. But everything in New York is more expensive for some reason

I'm sorry Jareski, I didn't mean it like that!

I personally prefer the smaller headlights though, nothing against the facelift

Yea don't bash the facelift! I actually prefer the bigger headlights over the smaller ones but to each his own. Now as for the truck I would offer 11k since it has quite a bit of miles and it's about to be 8 years old.

yeah that's a bit steep, but it might not be far off in NY, take a look on autotrader around your area and look for some private sales, if you can get the truck for around that number then you will be doing pretty good. I bought my 05 1500 QC 4x4 a year ago with 105,000 for about 11,000, so you should be able to get it down quite a bit hopefully.
