Default Spare tire question

I put 35's on my truck over the summer and I love them. But I have come to think about my spare tire situation. I have the stock spare tire which I believe is 32.5 or 33". If I were to have a blowout or something would I be okay to run that tire with the 35"s or would that be dangerous? If so should I just buy a 35" tire off Craigslist? I know then I'd have to find me a rim with negative offset for it to fit which I honestly don't want to spend that money, but I also don't want to get the truck towed if I have a flat :/. Also would I be able to mount a 35 where the stock spare is? I doubt I could without some fabrication.

I would not want to run it long that way. If on the rear and you have an LSD then one is constantly spinning at different RPMs. The spare would probably would work better on the front but it might affect the steering some.

Yep just use it gently and long enough to get the flat repaired. I still have the stock sized spare on 20" rim. Havent needed it yet but I don't have rear lsd either.

I literally asked this same question after getting my lift and 34s lol. I just went to Walmart and got the big can of fix a flat for off road tires but I still have my spare just in case since my new tires are only an inch bigger then the spare

Yeah I was wondering this same thing yesterday, not that I have off road tires or anything. I guess you can bolt one to the inside of your truck bed, but it looks like hell.

You can fit a 35 underneath. Just not if you have your exhaust going out to the rear

Are you saying that a 35 will fit on the stock mount or are you just sayin that there's room for it?

I believe if the wheel is able to be winched up then there are no problems. You just need the hole in the wheel for that one piece to go through.

The stock mount just fits through the center of the spare and hoists it up. But it doesn't play well with some aftermarket, rear exit exhausts because the tire doesn't leave enough room for the pipes. So you'd want to measure from the center of the spare tire mount out to any exposed exhaust pipes to make sure there is clearance. Originally, my catback system was dual exit out the right rear on the same side and one of the pipes was too close to even the stock spare. I wrapped the pipe with exhaust wrap and that worked great until the tire rubbed a hole through it. I had a nice big chunk of tread burned out of the tire. I've since had the pipes rerouted so that one exits out the other side and have had no other issues.

Definitely not good for the LSD in the rear. I would have to put a front tire on the rear and the spare on the front if driving over 5 miles to save the clutches.
