TTI Header
Hey Guys,
Today I called TTI and wanted to order headers and a y-pipe for my Ram but they said they have never tried the fitment on my truck.
I have a 2004 Ram 1500 Single Cab Short box 2wd.
Do you guys think they will fit? I dont see why not.
Also, if anyone has TTI are you happy with them?
Thanks for any input,
TJ

That is a good point. I looked at the OBX headers and they look nice but from what I read what they say as having Cats arent cats. So I would get a few Cel and emission issues.
Thats why I liked the TTI because of ever thing is designed to work together. I think I am still gonna try the TTI because I can image the underside of a crew cab or extended cab is a ton different from the single cab.
Are the gains they are advertising true? Trucks did a article and claimed with TTI they picked up 40 hp and 40 ft/lbs.
Thanks,
TJ

I'd get the dynatechs instead even if you have to wait for them. From what i've heard they're worth the asking price. TTI's header flanges were not even close to flat when I got them, the provided gaskets blow, the header bolts they come with are not pure stainless, and you do not have choice in using other bolts because there isn't enough room from the bolt holes to the header tubes themselves. Their bolt heads are particularly tiny for this reason. I've dealt with so many install issues, and trust me that there is no better header gasket for these than the mopar ones. The headers themselves are good quality material though, as well as the cats. Be aware with the TTI kit you do need to lift the passenger side of the engine a bit to get them in. The way they are designed also makes it a little tricky for installing wideband O2 sensors.
Also a comment on the power. What you will notice is that the power band gets shifted to come in harder around 3k rpm. Power gain won't be much without supporting mods or a tune.

Thanks, thats all good to know. I already ordered the TTI headers and ypipe, so when they get here one of the first things I will do is take a straight edge to the flanges. I mean for the money they better be perfect. Is it a issue that the bolts are smaller and not full stainless?
And as far as my supporting mods I have a Volent CAI, and Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust. I want to get a tune but I also dont want to have to pay the extra for mid or premium gas. Is the couple doller increase at the pump actually worth it?

i'd say the smaller bolts make it harder to seal and they do corrode after a while with them not being t304

Just saw the other half of your post there. Flowmaster I am not a fan of and they generally flow really poorly. I'm also skeptic on most intakes - the truth is they don't usually do much - there's a couple Australian kids with a show on youtube that debunk this. Ram air intakes do make a difference though, either through the hood or through the bumper (such as the vararam intake). In terms of the tune here's my advice for you. If you plan on doing some serious modding to the point where you will need custom tuning - go diablosport. At that point you wouldn't care much about MPG because you are tuning for power. A heads up in that regard though is that their new Intune unit has been suspect with a high DOA rate. Took me 3 tries to get a working one, and I'm not the only one. If you don't plan on modding too crazy, the superchips is excellent. I've used both and will tell you that while the power on the stock "canned" tunes will be essentially the same, the superchips' transmission tuning feels so much better - and I'm not even talking about after using their custom TCM tuning option. The stock canned TCM tuning is firmer and seems to use less torque management, so you will end up with faster 0-60's. The good news is that both have good resale value, so switching isn't too big of a deal. In terms of gas mileage you may notice a small boost with the superchips on 91, but only 1mpg or so. Writing out these stories I realize just how much time I've spent with these trucks, it's almost disturbing.
Hey guys, sorry it took so long to post back but things have been crazy lately. Well heres what happend. Turns out TTI does not make a 5.7 header any more. They make a 6.1 that the say will fit on the 5.7. SO long story short I had to argue with them to get my money back.
I am extremely disappointed. I thought for the money I was spending I was getting a good product. When I got the headers out turns out the flanges were warped. Really for all the money I spent I get warped flanges. They also advertise for a product that they do not have. I am glad at this point that they finally did pay for me to ship it back and gave me a full refund. So now I am just running my flowmaster exhaust and volant intake. I have a superchips on the way and then a transgo kit.
