Default Tire size question.

Hello, I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD, with a 3" Body Lift, and i was wondering what size tires I could run with stock gears? I was looking at 35's or 33's. but I've heard that the stock gears wouldn't run 35's, but would they be able to run 33's?

I have 33" A/T tires with a 3" BL. Take into consideration that the stock GoodYears on the 20" wheels are roughly 33" tires (though not as wide as most off-road/AT tires). You can easily fit 35" tires no problem. Optimally you'd want 4.56 with 35's, but you can get by alright with stock gearing.

Thanks! I am planning on getting 305/70/17 tires, and just wanted to make sure I would be able to run them without having to re-gear it. I was also wondering is there anything else I should watch out for? Should I watch anything else, as far as diameter wise, or anything. I read that a more than 3% diameter difference can cause brake failure. Is that actually a common occurrence? or more on the rare side?

Thanks!

I am also using the stock rims, will I need spacers, or anything? Just want to make sure everything is working correctly, and installed correctly when i get them!

I installed the tires, and they drive great! How-ever, when first pressing on the gas, like, before the truck even gets over 5 or 10 MPH, there is a deep vibration that feels like something is rubbing against the tire... I checked the tire, and it isn't touching anything. it is extremely close to the upper ball joint, but it isn't touching it, or rubbing against it that I can see. It is PRETTY Close though... like... not even a inch away. It also does it when slow turning, but does it every-time when I first start accelerating. Any Ideas?

What kind of tires are they? If they are aggressive tires, you may just be feeling the tread on the ground.

They are Goodyear Wrangler MTR with Kevlar Tires. IMG_0545_zpsc16d779a.jpg?t=1376145328

they are aggressive tires, but It doesn't feel like a tread feeling. It feels like something is grinding, when I turn at slow speeds now too. it's also vibrating the steering wheel while driving on the highway now I have no idea what it is. It might be me just feeling the tread, I'm not sure. Never had any kind of decent tires before! lol. I'm more of a mechanical person, not associated with tires...lol.
