Question New Truck?

Hey guys, looking for some input from some more experienced owners. I am currently looking at a 2002 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 and a 5-speed manual and also a 2006 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi automatic. Both look clean and are similarly priced, but the mileage is what bothers me.
The 2002 has 173,000 miles while the 2006 has 188,000. Both have service records and seem well taken care of overall.
I am looking for something that won't take up a lot of work or time due to college, but I need something to replace my aging Dakota.
So, what would you choose? Is the 4.7 more reliable than the Hemi or vice versa?
Thanks

I think the Hemi is more reliable. The 4.7 just seems rather whimpy to me for a truck.... That said, think I would keep looking..... What city do you live in? Folks might be able to point you at a better deal.

I'm in Rapid City, SD for school, but am looking all over the Black Hills right now. These are both from a popular dealer here in Rapid.

Check craigslist for the area as well. I would bet you can find a better deal.....

If you're stuck with those two, go with the hemi. Considering how most people don't properly maintain a 4.7 I'm actually surprised to see one with that many miles (unless the engine has been replaced).

Of the two, the 06 for sure.
