Recall catastrophe
Do not take your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 in for the rear axel pinion nut recal!! My son did and now they will not repair or return the truck to him. They offered 2k take it or leave it!!! Guess I won’t be purchasing any more dodge vehicles.
More details, truck was taken into Daytona Dodge on Sep 30 for recal repair. One of which was the rear axle lockup at highway speed. When they checked the tolerance it was out of speck. They disassembled and removed the rear axle and ordered the replacement. Two separate attempts were made both replacements were out of speck. So they valued the truck as is without a rear axle, since Mopar can’t get one, at 2080. They won’t return the truck because it doesn’t comply with the recal and is a liability issue. Sooo 2080 take it or leave it. Oh and by the way if you don’t take it we keep the truck and you get nothing. Needless to say I was amazed at this since they have the same year and model on the lot for 7800. I have been a dodge guy for decades. I have two jeeps and two rams. The 2005 and a 2019. Next year I’ll have none unless the attorneys can get some kind of reasonable settlement out of this. What other details would you all like from this very pissed of Ram guy
if this is true go the lawyer route. Its a sure win.
I have never in my 17 years in the auto industry EVER heard of a forced buyback for a recall. What was out of spec?
take the $2000 and the truck and sign a waiver...buy a used rear axle assembly

I don't think I'm familiar with this recall. Yes, they will recall vehicles that old as my '04 Impala has two open recalls. I have an occasional noise in my rear end on my '02 but I was thinking a failing axle bearing. Between my hearing loss and not being able to replicate the sound at will, I haven't tracked it down yet.
Toyota had one for the Tacoma's frame rotting out. Depending on mileage, and shape they would but it back, or replace the frame. But they were buying back at dealer cost. If the truck was $7,000 in the lot for sale, you got $7,000 for buy back........ If I'm remembering it correctly, it was 10 years ago or so.
yes but Toyota detailed that in the recall. the customer has the option to repair or replace...it wasn't forced on them. Toyota paid the shop 60hours to replace the frame. No where in this recall does it say anything about a buyback.
