Built for performance and show utilizing the highest quality components, the K&N 77 Series High-Flow Performance Kit is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed for Trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles. 77-Series intakes have a polished aluminum finish. K&N intake systems replace your vehicle's restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The filters on these kits are washable and reusable. Most of our intake kits are relatively easy to install using tools commonly available (see installation instructions). [MORE]

Anyone using one of these? http://incamotorsports.com/products/...ant/V16857.htm

Is it worth the money and will it improve HP and Mileage?

Thanks,

Be sure to buy from a supplier that will let you return the CAI
with 'no questions asked'
and also re-imburses you for return postage.

Get a friend to test with you with a similar truck.

Make a few runs with the CAI on your truck and your friend's truck running beside you. Then swap the CAI onto your friend's truck and run beside him with your stock system.
{using two vehicles is the best way to cancel out the effects of wind and temperature changes}

In addition to a stopwatch
consider using this dyno program along with a movie camera aimed at the dashboard to get good horsepower and torque estimates:

send the CAI back for a refund when you find out for yourself how little they do.

Similar tests can be run with two trucks to prove CAI's don't improve MPG.

Whatever you do,
don't buy a CAI by charging it onto a credit card
where it will run up interest charges

HankL, why have you never answered my question before? What do you do for a career and what mods do you have on your truck?

It has become my standard practice
before answering a post to click the
"Search" button at the top
type in the name
and randomly read a few past posts.

I highly recommend this to other DF readers,
especially before taking someone's advice to buy something
or spending hours of labor to make a mod.

I think you are ignoring me. I just really like to see what kind of basis you have for your "informed opinions", you just seem like you are one of those people that look for arguments and has to be right, even when the know they are wrong. Not saying you are wrong, but simply that is a personality type. I work with a guy like that... we will be working in a total downpour and he will argue that it is mearly drizzling... and this isn't an optimistic person either. All I am saying is you are pretty matter-the-fact about everything, and would like to know what kind of background you have... if you are some leading engineer for Dodge or something like that, I would take what you say about these subjects as gospel. And if you are, what mods do you have or feel are totally worthwhile.

There is a new CAI called the RamHammer. I just bought one. Prior to this one I had a K&N drop in filter.

I tried to post a photo but had no luck,

I have photos and dyno sheets in my gallery. My gains were impressive.
