16 year old insurance
I will have to say that getting rid of mandatory insurance is crazy. It's not like everybody on the road has insurance, but still crazy. Just remember eltupac that makes you liable for any accident he has, so you can be sued by who ever he might hit. There are so many variables that have to do with insurance rates. I am an insurance agent for Allstate and where you live has a lot to do with it. Just because you live in CA doesn't make it more expensive. I live OK and have transfered many policies from other states like CA, NY, TX and OK is almost always more expensive. I also know that with my company just because it has the Hemi doesn't mean it is more. In some cases the 4.7 is just as much as the 5.7. It also depends on how they rate your son. If you have more cars then drivers or the same amount, then rate your son on the oldest veh or the one with liab. With most companies, not sure about other states, he will be covered to drive any of the vehs. So rate him old something older if you have it. If you have more drivers then cars, then he will be rated as a restricted driver which is cheaper, except in some cases the company will have to rate him as restriced on the most expensive veh. You might double check with your company as well, not all companies give a discount for drivers ed, because it is becoming almost mandatory in some states. It is always wise to call ahead and get an idea of the price before you add someone or a veh. Most agents wont mind.
it must be nice getting a ram qc 4X4 at 16. i had a 1992 mitsubishi eclipse 4 banger as my first car. payed 1500 bucks for the thing. now i work hard and pay for my ram. tell the kid to get a job to show some responsibility before giving him a hemi. im 25 years old and i still have people messing with my hemi when i drive around. i resist the temptation of racing becuase i have matured alot since i was 16. giving a 16 year old a hemi could be bad. Trust me i can remember all the stupid $hit i used to do when i was behind the wheel at 16. get him a wrangler.....A) chicks love wranglers and B) they are sweet rides
All I have to say is what Chris Rock says:
You know what's worse than taxes?
What's worse than tax is insurance.
You got to have some insurance
They shouldn't even call it insurance
They just should call it 'in case ****.'
l give a company some money
in case **** happens.
Now, if **** don't happen,
shouldn't l get my money back?

Your paying for a service. If you bought a bedliner but then never put anything in the back of your truck, would you expect to get your money back. I know that is not a very good example and I know I'm probably a little biased because i'm in the industry, but it is a well worth service. Just ask anybody that has adequate coverage and been ina serious accident. I know that if you have gone years and years with out an accident and paid for insurance it doesn't seem worth it, but it only take one accident to make it worth it.
I havent had an incident with Allstate and that is who I am insured with, but I can tell you I had bad experiences with State Farm, Geico, so hopefully Allstate are not dicks.
After the 2005 hurricane season my roof was crapped. I have a house from 1988 and been paying insurance to State Farm since then, to 2005, 17 years * $2000(avg all years)=$34 large ones. The adjustor comes by, yeah I need a new roof (about $15 large ones). Then the check arrives $3,500 after deductible. Some lady in corporate does not agree with the adjustor even thought she's only seen pictures. Had to go to some sort of arbitration or something to get the full amount to get a new roof. So, if I had put $2000 a month a side into a CD, I could have paid for my own roof. Instead State Farm gets my $2000 a year, invests it along with all the other $2000 they get from other suckers and their CEO, CIO, President and Board Members get six to seven figure salaries.
Yeah it seems like a good service, dont you think.

i'm 16, drive a hemi.
i have done some stupid **** i will admit, but that was right when i got it.. after a little bit i realized how stupid it was.
the stuff that's happend to my truck hasn't been my fault except for one minor thing. which i was texting and thought i was stopped at a red light but was still rolling a little and tapped this lady. which i now have a small dent on my front bumper. which i learned from and never use my phone while driving.
i've had friends tell me to do **** with my truck like OH RACE HIM! BURN OUT! i just laugh and say nah i'm alright.
give him the hemi.
if you think he's mature enough he should be able to handle it.

I agree with all of yous. If you are a mature 16 year old, more power to you, get your HEMI. If yous a slacker with Fs and Ds, drive a Pinto or a 1980 Honda Civic. I couldnt even afford a HEMI for myself, so if your dad can get you that, good for you.
I still do some inmature things, like drifting with my truck on an empty road . . . now that's dumb

Well my son is an all A student and never gets into serious trouble. We have jetskis and we hunt and him having a truck so he can do those things by himself makes my life easier. He drives my truck all the time and never had an issue. I feel he deserves a truck, and if I am able to afford it then why not purchase it. He will take care of it there isnt any doubt about that so I want him to have a truck that will last. There is the possibilty that he might do something stupid, but who doesnt. I am glad to hear though there are much lower rates on insurance then I expected. My neighbor who is an insurance agent stated the reason dodge trucks insurance is so much more expensive where we live is because of the locatation. The parts are harder to locate, and much more expensive.
well, he will be one happy camper with that HEMI. ill tell ya, im 19, and have a 2007 HEMI and am loving more and more everyday. i thionk hes a lucky kid like myself. and i must say, it seems to me that he isnt spoiled either! some think i am, i know im not. there are reasons parents buy their kids things. congrats to him. is he gonna join us on here?
