Ahh Haa!
Here is a down and dirty summary of my exhaust.
2006 Ram 5.7 Hemi/MDS
Note this setup is NOT loud. I didn't want any drone inside the cab.
Total Cost: $160
Took truck to local Economy Muffler shop
They installed (welded) a single-in / single-out 50 series Flowmaster 53057 in place of the stock muffler
Everything else remained in place (ie both resonators and tail pipe)
Here are links to audio/video clips
Outside of Truck: Start-Idle-Rev

Inside of Truck: Mild accelration

Okay, i've been waiting for this. I didn't want to flood the regular area. My truck does not have a fron't or rear resonator, I think. Right after the headers there are two(one of each side) very small things just bigger than the pipe. Then it comes to one pipe, where I believe there is another one of the things. Then nothing until the three foot long muffler. Then a pipe to the side of the truck. I haven't heard of other peoples like this. I want to cut out the muffler dump it with a supper 40 right before the axel (or somewhere in the area) should I look into removing these other things when I do this?
The 2 "things" after the exhaust manifolds (not headers) are catalytic converters. My truck also has 2 of them. The other "thing" you refer to sounds like the front resonator. Take some pictures.
I think they are all catalytic converters, here is a blurb from the service manual 4.7 & 5.7 litergas engines, if yougoogle ityou can take a lookat it:50 State emission vehicles incorporate two mini catalytic converters located after the exhaust manifolds and beforethe inline catalytic converter the way I read it is that equals a total of 3. I had both resonators cut off and still had all 3 cats, we all know about emissions now a days, hope this helps.

Im going to recommend the super 40 single 3" in with dual 2.5" out. I have this setup on my 04 5.7 liter with no resonators and love the agressive rumble!
I second HansonHVAC's recommendation. I have a 40 series single in, dual out side exit before the rear wheel. Sounds bad ***, performs great, and the drone inside the cab is hardly noticeable. I can't see anybody being dissapointed with a 40 series.
