Hello, despite reading every page in this section the last few days I bought a brand new '07 Ram regular cab 2wd with 3.7L and 6 speed manuel. I basically have to have a pickup for work but just use it for carring parts in the back. The things I gathered from here where the biggest things where the 3.7L is underpowered and the gas mileage isn't great. Well after only 42 miles on it I can agree that on the hiway 6 gear is taxing going up a hill with the ac on but it's tollerable. I don't know about mpg yet but as long as I can average 18 mpg I will be happy. I feel like this truck is pretty solid and should be reliable. I traded in my '93 Chevy 1 ton 4x4 diesel reg. cab for this. It had the 6.5td and was starting to become a money pit. With all the rebates Dodge was offering I got this new Dodge for$12,999. Can't buy many new cars for that! So far I like it pretty well and only time will tell if I made the right decision.
Btw, I despise Fords so didn't even go there but looked at a comparable Chevy. What I found that the Dodge has over it besides a better price is more H.P., rear disc brakes, and 6 speed manuel(compared to Chevys drums and 5 speed), also the Dodge has a much better interior. The Chevy Ifs made the ride better but that was about it. I will post again as I gain more miles. Wishbone

Welcome to Dodge you Love the truck hate the payments Ha Ha.
It takes a couple tanks of gas before you start getting some MPG it took me 3 or 4 tanks before it started to break in.
I getting around 17.6 MPG after break in.
For my self I l was a Dodge truck person then went to Ford for many years Back again to Dodge I think I will stay with Dodge much better built Truck.

Welcome, I'm sure the truck will do great for you. I can get around 18mpg highway but I mostly drive city so I get about 15.5.If you do alot of highwayI think you can hit 18 average.Powerwise it's not as bad as most make it outto be. However I haveastandard cabwith the 6 speed andthe upgraded gears 3.55 or whatever they are so I really don'tknow how diff it is from a qc autowith 3.21's. I take it up to my parents cabin all the time up a twisty two lane highway and pass people no prob and can take the long 7% grade at 65-70 if you keep the Rpm's up. I actually just came back from there tonight and was surprised how well it did now that it's breaking in. I wasbehinda bus and dropped it from 5th to 3rd and blew past him and truck in front of them like they weren't moving. Looked down as I was passing the truck and was going 85 and it didn't take me long to get there from about 50 or so.
That's good to hear. My diesel got 18 mpg no matter how I drove it but I do drive a lot of hiway. So I just hope to do as well as what I had. Central Oklahoma is pretty flat so I don't have to many steep hills to contend with. A couple of maitance questions though. I poked around late last night to see what all I can do. I did not see a drain plug on the radiatior? And I'm not sure which plug is the drian plug on the manuel tranny. Could be the hex screw in the middle rear, or the convential screw on the drivers side rear?

Well, I can just tell you, if you keep it with the stock tires, you'll be looking at that range. I went to the stock 20's and that hurt my mpg. I averaged 15.5 with 50/50. I have the QC with 3.21 gears. Everybody tells me that you upgrade the tires, you upgrade the gears. Oh wells. That was a great price, enjoy the truck.

Wishbone, where are ya from? Im in OKC but a Shawnee native. Just curious who the heck gave you a deal like that!!! wow. Hope you enjoy the new ride.
I live in the Yukon/Mustang area. Bob Howard is running that special until the end of this week I believe. They started with 11 but only had 2 left by the time I got there. Had my choice of Khaki or Blue. I bought the Khaki colored one.
I plan to keep the stock 17" wheel size though these stock wheels are pretty ugly. I my try and find some better looking Ram 17" wheels or put some Eagles on there.

I have a 2006 6 speed, std cab, std bed. With mostly freeway (80%) here in So Cal, I am up to 18.5-19 at 7000 miles. Mileage jumped almost 1 mpg when I hit about 3500 miles, up till then I was getting 17.7-18. On a long trip I feel 21, maybe 22 no prob. I drive 65-70 mph.
I added the SLT rims with Goodyears, but kept the steel wheels w/Mich. tires. The Michelins are the best and last real long; I had 48k on my '03 Ram ST V6 5 spd and they had another 10k to go! You should be able to find some nice 'new take offs' SLT alums with good-new tires for $300-400 on Craigslist, etc. Just be patient.
I, too got mine for $12,999 plus the 'where not gonna take it out' dealer installed bedliner which I negotiated down to $300 from $500, sheesh, dealers!

That's a good deal, I thought I did really good when I got my 06 for 14,100. The when I working for a dealer I got dealer cost on used ram 20's so I got the 20's with new Pirelli Scorpion ATR's which I love for $500. Then I threw power locks in it for 40 or something like that.
I don't mind manuel locks and windows on a 2 door truck(one less thing to go wrong!). But I may add after market power lock myself in the future. As long as it had AC and CD I'm happy.
