4.7 Performance upgrades
on fastman page, i read it, i see the quote about he just bores it out that 3mm, but a few posts down kregier mentions a gap, so if i bought a BBK 72 mm tb, would it really be a 69mm or actually 72 mm?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. If you bore it out all the way through, you'd have to have a bigger butterfly or have a significant gap around the stock one. But if it's not bored out all the way through, only up until the butterfly, then what's the point as you'd still be restricted to the smaller size. The biggest reason I want to know is I want one (of course). That and if the butterfly doesn't need to be replaced, then I can go to my buddy's machine shop and just get him to bore out mine with his fancy schmancy lathe or milling machine.
He replaces the shafts and blades, here's a section of his ad from his site:
All throttle bodies have their air horns removed. The top and bottom surface are milled flat. They are all taper bored. Depending on which throttle body is chosen, the bores are either opened up to desired size or bored out just enough to clean up the casting to insure clean air flow. They all receive brand new custom made Stainless Steel Shafts and brand new custom made thin Brass Blades.

well i don't know how true this is but with my BBK70mm i notice the thottle responce is right there,i'm resting my foot on the gas pedel at 60mph,plus when i get on it it sounds like it is goin to suck you out of the seat an into the motor,in my pulling video at the end of the run all you hear is it suckin airhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVFj_NwO8CY
Been thinking about making some changes to my '03 Ram 4.7. Not sure where to start as far as the motor goes. Suggestions welcome !! I really don't want to add a cam to it yet, just want to help it out. It's 100% stock, gets around 20-21mpg highway and tops out @ 106mph (fast enough? maybe not)
Here is a list for you to follow.
1)4.10 or 4.56 gears but this depends on your tire size. What gears do you have on now?
2) Electric Fan
3) Cold Air Intake
4) Fastman 68.5mm Throttle Body
5) Superchips 3715
6) The exhaust, but make sure you upgrade the factory y-pipe. That is very restricitve.

You can have one fabbed up or buy one just about anywhere online. If you plan keeping your exhaust piping the same size then you will need on that is 2.25" double to a 2.5" single. If you are going to a 3" full piping you would need a 2.25" double to a 3" single.

Mine is off a 2002 GMC Yukon which is a full 3" in/out,but damn that thing flows. It also silenced my exhaust tone, which I prefer.

Ok, I have already asked this question on the main forum and 287CC pointed me in the right direction, but I am wondering where to get a performance chip/super chip or tuner? I looked at SCT and at Superchips but I see nothing that says 4.7, everything seems to be for those HEMI guys.
