Smoked my taillights!

Smoked my taillights!
Been wanting to do it for a while now, even though I've only had my truck for about a month and a half haha.
I read every possible DIY Tutorial for every car possible lol. I was NOT expecting it to take that long, my god.
Me and my friend took NINE hours to do this. I will admit I'm not the brightest one, but NINE HOURS good lord, I thought it would take a few hours at most. But all in all it came out looking pretty freakin' sweet I must say.
I got no pictures YET! as its 2 am and we just got done, but tomorrow or friday I should have some pics up!

Hey, thanks for making the road a little less safe for yourself and those around you! [8D]

I don't ever comment on the smoked lights posts but you are correct.
Doing this to your lights does make it less safe for the people around you. If it is a bright day out you can not see that they are braking.
If I ever rear-end someone that has smoked tail lights I am going to be sure the blame is placed on them for not having D.O.T approved tail lights. Also make their auto insurance aware that they were using illegal tail lights. Using non approved D.O.T lights is one cause for having your insurance dropped on you.
I thought I wanted smoked lights once apon a time until I saw them in the daylight and then did research and found that it is not legal.

Well that isn't entirely true. Some States do allow them as long as the lights are still visable. So as long as you dont tint them too much you should be fine. But never the less I do agree with you that they are very hard to see during the day, and if you get into a fender bender then its really easy for the other person to blame you for the accident.

I'd like to see what they look like though. Never heard of someone doing it themselves. And in Louisiana where I used to live, the law was 500ft at night. Besides, I try to go off of people's third brake light, not their tail lights. On a lot of cars out there, when they have their lights on I can't tell if they are braking or not.
