Default Best Synthetic Oil

I have 1500 miles on my Ram and I am going to switch to synthetic. With Royal Purple,Amsoil,Mobile one and others which do you feel is best?

The only things I have read says Amsoil is best, but Royal Purple advertises horsepower and horsepower gains. Mobile one seems to be the easiest to find. Let me know what the forum thinks.

Red heads, Blond's, smart, or easy, plain or sassy, oil is like women, manny chioces with manny options, as long as you keep booth healthy and maintained, the better you will be.

I use mobil 1 with the chrysler oil filter ( don't know if its a Fram, puralter with the chrysler name on it )

That's interesting, is that hear-say, or is there test data? I'm currenty using Valvolene Full Synthetic (went in to get Mobil 1 but couldn't resist the buy one, get one free sale) but have recently read two separate tests where Royal Purple and Amsoil both held their properties much longer than all other synthetics tested. Amsoil actually tested best, but just ahead of RP and they were both WAY better than the rest.
Unless I happened to step into another buy one/get one type deal, I was thinking about RP next change. I was thinking about Amsoil, but it's too much of a PIA when you can't just walk into the store and buy it.

If you have the money go with Amzoil

But like cyclone said if you keep it maintained you'll be just fine with a less expensive brand.

Mobil 1 has the most research behind it
and has had the most money spent testing it.

The Dodge Viper, Corvette and the Porsche 911
have been shipped from the factories with Mobil 1 original fill.

Exxon/Mobil recently did a 'round the world' test of Mobil 1 in engines:

http://mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorO...orld_Home.aspx

volunteers have tested Mobil 1 and other syn oils:

http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/mobil1.html

I have used Mobil 1 starting in 1976
but have had problems with it attacking gaskets
and allowing leaks in the early days.

I have used Mobil 1 in a 1995 Magnum 5.9V8 since 18,000 miles
and now have over 180,000 miles with the cylinders all still showing
compression over 140 psi on the 4th stroke in a hot test with the throttle propped open.
