Default Is it just me (mine)

OK first let me say this is my first time posting on this site, I love to se others like their Ram as much as I like mine. But anyway here is my question on my 05 QC 1500 4X4with no load in the bed whatsoever the leafs are sagging over the axles, has anybody ever noticed this? Or is mine a uniqe situation? This is not a problem with no load but if I even put my 4 wheeler (and its not that big) in the bed the rear sags plus I get alot of body roll. I know its not a 2500 but come on it shouldnt sag this bad. And I don't mind adding some helper springs but first I want to make sure that most all Rams are doing it and not just mine. I will try and post some pics so ya'll can see exactly what I am talking about, the spring starts out high then levels out then goes UP! over the axle then down and back up. I know that sounds crazy but get a creeper and slide under your truck and you might see what I mean. If you have added any load helpers what have you done? Thanks.

I have had my 650lb. four wheeler in the bed and the truck hardly went down at all. I've also carried two loads of river rock that was estimated at about 1300 lbs (only about 6 miles) and still could go over speed bumps without bottoming out. I did however choose to add air bags after I got my tool box. It forced me to have to load my ATV too far back (part of my reat tires hang over the edge of the tailgate). The rear didn't sag a lot, but enough to cause EVERYONE to flash me at night, with only my low beams on.
I highly recommend air bags. Easy install, very versatile and a side benefit I have found is they also act as a stabilizer when cornering with a heavy load, as they eliminate a lot of body lean.

What bags did you go with? I had an 03 2500 and I put the Air Lift bags on it. But they were the heavy duty bags and they mountedwhere the bumpstopswere, right above the axle, butair ride doesnt offer the heavyduty bags for the 1500 only "ride control" bags wich are the same thing they just mount behind the axle (still on the spring). But I have looked at a firestone set up and they all seem to be the same mounting the bag centered ove the axle.

I did the ride controls, work great. About $200, I opted to put the air fill valve through an existing hole in my receiver. The on-board compressor would be nice, but would more than double the cost and not be cost effective as I load my ATV maybe once a month.
The only thing I did that wasn't "by the book" (very good docs by the way) was I welded the brackets to my frame rather than drilling into it and using the supplied bolts.
About a two and a half hour install in the driveway.

So do you have it bagged or is that what you are looking to do to it to fix the problem? Also is it still under warranty at all? If you still have the 3yr bumper to bumper or extended warranty Id take it to them and tell them to replace them.

That looks pretty good hammer. I like the welding job thats looks almost factory.

.
Well thats kinda my point, it is still under warranty and if nobody or few others were having an issue the I was going to take it back to the dealer for replacement. And no its not bagged at this point.

I say take it in and see what they can do for you. I've had plenty of fire wood in my truck and never had it sag even close to tell it was loaded. Now I have a 3" add-a-leaf in the rear, and I would have a pretty hard time getting it to sag now.

i know what you're talking about, beezz. my springs look like there is a load in the bed when it's empty....and when loaded it was easy to set the bump stops on the axle. i'm guessing due to the weight of the truck (QC LB). so i added the timbren overloads...mounts in place of bumpstops. i haven't had a load in it since the install, but i'm thinking they'll do what i want.

Thanks for the replies, I talked to 2 different Dodge service dept.s and they said they would look and see so if that doesn't work the I will just bag it. However I did wonder how those Timbren OL springs worked, we have a company that we deal with at work who sell all matter of towing products and I have seen those in their catalog but have yet to talk to anyone who has them, solet me know how hey do!
