so, a 1 inch lift to the front end is easily done by cranking the torsion bars?

I havent found a topic or link that explains "How To" do this w/ pics... any suggestions...

and from what i'm reading, you must have truck allignt after doing this?

Yes you can raise it by tightening to torsion bars. And diffidently get it aligned after doing so.
I haven't done it yet, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. But have the the truck sitting on a level surface, jack the front end off the ground, tighten the torsion bolts some, lower it down and measure it. I would move it around a little to see if it settles. Keep doing this to get it where you want it.

If you crank the torsion bars you shouldn't raise it anymore than 2" or you will need longer shocks, if you dont go any higher than 2" you dont need the new shocks but I would recomend it. Either way you will have to get an alignment.
