Electric Fan and Towing
How does the Electric fan do when towing????? Is it better or worse?????
I tow about 5000 to 6000lbs every month or so (Dirt bikes, quads, etc

. over some pretty steep hills. I know i'm gonna re-gear and add headers, but am unsure if going the E. fan would be the right way to go.

electric fans are much better than a clutch fan because they run at a higher rpm even if your truck is in a lower rpm and also because it is less drag on your motor...
I would imagine that it would be at least as good a the stock fan at cruising speed and would be better at slow speeds and heavy traffic as it continues to run at the same high speed regardless of engine rpm's.
Im planning on doing the e fan swap pretty soon and from what i've seen it is beneficial. I believe the stock clutch fan pulls about 4000 cfm, upgrading to a larger fan would obviously pull more air. The one everyone seems to suggest trying to get is off of a Lincoln Mark VIII which is supposed to pull somewhere between 7500-8000 cfm. you can get them for about $65 on ebay, its also supposed to free up a few extra HP, i've seen figures up to 10-12hp to the wheels, not sure if thats legit or not. Honestly, the fan would be a great upgrade but pulling that much weight that often your def. gonna want to swap gears quick it only took me one time to rip the c-clips out of my rear and that was a 6500lb trailer for 6 hours comin home from ATL.

Dealership just quoted me 1600 to 1800 to install the gears and 380 to install the headers.
I think there prices went up!!!!! Had headers, rear gears, and a tranny flush done on my 04 ram for 950 (not including parts) about 3 years ago. WTF??????

I did most of the LT header install myself. Took off the old manifold & cut behind the cats, installed headers (basically bolted them on) then brought the cut off cats to a muffler shop to be tied back in between the headers & Y to the muffler. Then all I had to do was extend the O2 sensor wires & reconnect. The muffler shop charged me $200 for their part.
