Default Steering wobble

I've got a Ram 1500 sport with the 5.7 Hemi - it's done 30, 000 miles and it shakes really bad when going over rough roads and braking

Someone said the steering stabilizer would need replaced but I've looked underneath and can't find one on the vehicle

Can anyone tell me where it's located ? - a photo would be great

Thanks
Bill

Hi
I imported the truck to the UK a couple of months ago - as far as I'm aware there have been no modifications at all- what do you think may be the problem ?

Yep I've checked it all for wear and tear as well, all the mountings and bushes / bearings are good

I'm kinda beat with this one !!

What do the tires look like? Ive seen dipped out tires do that especialy if they have never been rotated. Goodyears are really bad for dipping. It could also be a broken belt in the tire. I would also suspect a set of warped rotors. They can warp bad enough to shake the steering even when the brakes are not applied. You can look at the face of the tread on the tire for a broken belt, one part of the tread will stick out. Also you can feel the tread for the uneven wear called " dipping".

I also have an 03 4x4Hemi with 71000 on the clock here in the UKand she doesn't do that.
Check what the guys say above.
Also, do you have the standard Goodyears fitted?
I have the Cooper Discoverer H/T plus and they're a lot better than the standard Goodyear Wranglers.
I also run at 37lb pressure all round and don't seem to have any probs.
I had warped rotors several weeks ago and they did indeed shake the steering, even when I didn't apply the brakes.
These trucks are notorious for front brake warp.
Check it out bro'
Welcom to the forum bud.

Thanks for your input - I'll try rotating the tires this week before doing anything else, if that doesn't work I've got some rotors which I'll fit too

Thanks Al

I have the standard Goodyears on all four wheels - they've got about 5,000 miles left on them so maybe when I change them I'll put on something different.

Do you have any sources for tyres here in the UK ? There's a guy up here in Glasgow who does them but he wants an arm and a leg !!

Thanks
Bill

Hi stockbriggs
I'll dig out some receipts and PM my suppliers to you.
I think they were reasonable considering the sizes etc.
