Default RAM AIR CONVERSION VS CAI SYSTEM

Wanted to know what the general community thought about these hoods, i am seiously debating whether or not to get a CAI VS getting a ram air hood and having it converted. I want to change the hood out to an aftermarket syle so i suppose thats the biggest reason this idea is so appealing to me. Im not sure what the HP gain differance will be but im assuming it would be greater differance going down the road. Ive got a 9' lift with 38s". I love driving my truck and if it wasnt for the love of playing in the mud it would be a show truck. I just cant seem to put the effort into powder coating the underbody of it and chrome and such. I only take it out probably once or twice a month and spend the next week trying to get it clean again.

Anyway check this out.....http://www.ramairhood.com/

a ram air hood is going to get you the best results because
A) you are getting the coldest air
B) you are getting as much as you would need.

If you want the hood anyway make it functional!!

I always liked the Ram Air option as it gives a little more style to the outside, where as the CAI is rarely seen. As for gains, both are very minimal but about the same.

I know i started this thread about the difference of the CAI vs ram air...if i had to go with CAI what brands are seeing the biggest gains. I personally dont thinkthere is going to be much difference between a volant and a K&N the two that im debating on but ill throw it out there for discussion.

Thanks tdmopar ill look up some of the specs and see what i find. I plan to match this with a chip, Helix TB, and some new plugs and wires for now and see what kind of results i get.

Do yourself a favor and forget the TB spacer in your list of potential mods.

I had a Volant and they are not that great, it retains the "hemi hat" or the resonator box and that restricts air flow big time. Alot like K&N's here but that is not nearly one of the better intakes for the hemi according to alot of the dudes on other sites that are running sub 14 second quarters. I prefer the true flow, I have it now and it seems to yield better gains than the volant. I have also heard the AFE is a pretty good intake.

The throttle body spacer is a waste of money as well, it's an expensive, cool looking paper weight.
