STUPID FUSE!!!
my interior lights keep goin out went to replace the fuse (23) with a 15 and as soon as it touched the contacts it would blow.... same with a 20.... any ideas? i went through like 3 fuses just tryin to replace it!
Ok i didn,t see the fuse on a 03, so I looked at an 04. That fuse goes to several things. This may seem dumb, check your power outlets and make sure that there is not a coin it it. And I am gonna keep looking...
It means either you wired something into that fuse along the way and it's over amping the fuse or you have a short in the system. As a rule of thumb going up a fuse is not a good idea because instead of blowing the fuse you could burn out a place in the wiring instead. As Murphy would do it for you he would make the burn out in the wire at the absolute least accessable spot. I would start at the fuse box and check for continuity in the wire all the way too each leg the fuse supports and see if you can find the place where it loses continuity.
Hope this helps.

don't let out any of the magical smoke (an old aviation mechanic joke). The more magical smoke you let out of the wires the less the component will work. Check to ensure no magical smoke is leaking out...

Does the fuse blow when the truck is turned on or off or both?
Try to turn everything off (overhead lights, lighters, etc.) and see if it will blow. Also check to see if there are any other fuses blown. There might be a bad ground somewhere. Going to be kinda hard to find it though.
