I've been up to 77, I think. Aside from taking off in airplanes the fastest ground speed I have been is 105 and that was only oncewhen I was 16 or 17. Now water speed, I have been over 120 mph when I used to race hydroplanes in High School.
Wow, and 120 on the water feels ALOT faster. I've been up to about 75 on the water, on a river, with the guy driving having to throttle down to skip around the corners. Now that is scary.

Speed records...

Boat...Bass boat with 500HP motor... full throttle... IDK... but DAMN FAST....I was NOT going to atempt to stand up to see the speedo on the dash..
Plane... 535 Ground Knots... it was only 315ish at altitude, but it is equilivant to 500+ this was an airforce plane (KC-135). I'm not a pilot, but they were having a phantom problem in the co-pilot flight controls that never repeted on the ground... so we had to do mid-air repairs... (took near 6 months for them to aprove it)was fun got to pretend to fly. The Col would not let go soI could "letitimately" fly.... but still it was fun. (problem never found or fixed.... aparently the phantom problem could never be felt by any maintenance person even in air. kinda like the auto dealer thing...problem with your truck that you know is there butthe mechanic can never find)
Car... 56 bel-air... close to and possabily over 185mph. the speedo and tach i bought maxed out at 180mph 10k RPM. Had the speedo pegged and the engine was spinning a hefty 7,600 RPM i climed up to a full 8000 before I let go. was a great thrill ride.... now she barely breaks 15 MPH... that is driving off the trailer and on grass fields at auto shows...
Truck.... pegged the ram at 120 and climed the RPM's a few hundred after...

My next adventure will be to see my vertical top speed.... (this involves parachutes and a cesna)

Especially when you're racing on your knees and your face is about 2 feet above the surface of the water. Cornering I would slow to 80 - 90 (depending on the size of the corners).

i was going from Tallahassee to Pensacola to pick up my buddy at the navy base to come see his terminally ill mom in the hospital and on the way back i did a constant 120ish on I-10 east and i know this cause the state trooper told me so. we were pulled somewhere around quincey but believe it or not, weather it be due to the fact i had a fully dressed navy personell beside me or because our reason of travel, we were let off with a fierce warning. mabey thats part of the reason ive got a blown 4.7 now
