tdmopar59 is right someone WILL bash people for being honest, but oh well. You can't change the past and for me it was on open and near deserted highway. I was on a late night early morning trip from phoenix to san diego. It was a slight emergency. Family member went into the hospital. To shorten the story it was a last minute notification and no flights there til late the next day due to being booked. I hit I-8 and didn't pull off the throttle til i hit Yuma. it was winter so the air was cool. I had a CAI, Exhaust system, royal purple oil (engine, tranny and rear diff), programed to remove the govener/top speed limiter, and to run 91 pump for performance. Keep in mind I-8 is LONG, Strait and Flat. So no hills or anything to slow you down. Also being around 2-3am maybe a car or two evey couple of miles. I EVENTUALLY pegged the spedo and maxed the RPM's before she sucumed to aerodynamics. Not sure how fast i was going, but i was not concerned about that. My focus was on getting to the Navel hospital in San Diego. Part of me wishes i had gotten tagged by a cop just so i knew how fast i was really going. It was the second fastest time i've ever had getting to Yuma though. 1hr and 45min. (fastest 1hr and 32min in my Bel-Air, but she can reach speeds a little higher then 140+....lol but that is neither here nor there.) After Yuma i had to slow it down for 2 reasons...one when i filled up i clocked a wopping 9 MPG.... two the Wrangler HP's were not designed to handle that speed for a long period and the Passanger front tire had formed a bubble on the sidewall. Probabily due to the heat. I slowed it down a little the rest of the way... atleast i was under 100... anyways, that is my speed trip story, just with is was under better circumstances so i could have enjoyed the high speeds. Like tdmopar i'm not a street racer, i have speed world and PIR for that. I was also younger then.... this was back in 05... I was a teen back then... I look back and see that it didn't make a D*MN bit of difference if i got there in 4hr's or 6.... either way i sat in the lobby of the hospital unable to do anything anyways.... but i was younger and dumber....
Ok, now let the bashers talk.... (fyi for you guys.... I haven't had the truck above 80 since that trip)

I got it up to around 92 once passing someone but I have never tried to floor it to see how fast it would go. If I could find a safe place to do it I will but then again I guess it doesnt matter.I shouldnt have to go that fast anytime unless there is an emergency.
I have been in the bed of a truck before some yearsago when the dumb driver decided to go 115. Just knew I was a gonner if anything happened.

In North Carolina there is an old Air Force Base where you can legally find out top speed and have safety crews on hand if your Ram lifts and goes out of control:

On days when the runs are being made
the "hands on" people there have knowledge and experience
that is rare to find anywhere...except out west at the salt flats:

I have been up to 110 in the truck and almost everyday I hit 95. 95 is normal cruising speed down here though...LOL!!!

110 or so (STUPID) trying to get in front of a new tahoe or something! i was on a city street (more stupidity) late one night in st louis. we were at a stop light and every time i looked over at this guy, he would inch forward on me....light turned green and it was on. great time but could have been a BAD ending. the street was NOT asflat as i remembered and we hit a few dips (smooth) and my Ram got airborne once on me. my *** puckered and grabbed them leather and swuede seatsof mine andi just held on as the "Beast" did her thing til it slowed down. (no hitting brakes once in the air lol).
moral of the story is this, we ALL have done it but it SHOULD be done on the track!! (GateWay International)

I saw 115 on mine a couple of weeks ago. Slightly oversize tires (265/70x17s), so maybe 118? Plenty of pedal left. Haven't deliberately topped one out in a lot of years. Last time I did was an '88 Chevy 1500 5.7L. Saw 121 on that one. Took a while due to the 2.73 rear end. Our 300C has seen a touch over 120 a time or two.
