AMSOIL
I just switched to Amsoil a few weeks ago and plan on changing every 15k unless the oil goes bad. Its rated to go I think 1 year and/or20 or 25k under light driving condions and 15k under heavy (I drive in light conditions). I bought their oil filter that is suppose to go just as far as well.
So far I've only put 500 miles on it after the switch but I plan on checking it often. I cant see spending around $70 with shipping to change the oil every 3k. I aint that rich. If the oil will not last as long as stated then I have been lied toand simply will not get it anymore.
I may change it out at 10k since this is the first time using it to see how it has held up.

Does anyone use Royal Purple and if you do how is it? I see they claim increased HP and fuel mileage and I can buy it off the shelf.

royal purple is not a true full synthetic. . .it is a hydrocracked synthetic. . .just like mobil 1, however it is the addatives used that I would rather use mobil 1 over royal purple. Yet I'm an amsoil man myself. . .got 10K on my current oil w/ bypass filter and things are still going good. . .but I guess I can do that when Ive got 3 gallons to use instead of 5-6 quarts or what ever the hemi takes
The highest milage vehicle I have owned, using Amsoil on a 7,500 change, was 512,060, yes, thats over a half million miles on a 1986 Dodge Lancer with the 2.5 4 cyl turbo charged engine. I did valves and valve seats one time, and the timing belt every 50,000 miles. Replace one A/C compressor, and thats about it. My 99 Ram 360 has 206,000 on it, nothing but Amsoil, and it runs like new.
I put the dual filtration on our 05 Hemi when it was new and have changed oil twice. I run it for 25,000 and change oil and both filters. Function speaks for itself.

If you have just changed over i would change it over at five, and then push it out from there. I change my amsoil every 5-6, but know a ton of people that use it for 10k.
to those of you that have added an additional filter, bypass i guess? How did you do this on a hemi motor. i am interested.

I'm not completely sure on the hemi motor, however there should be a tap at the primary filter mount that you hook to in order to hook up the bypass.
then you have two options. . .either drill a hole in the oil pan for the return, of get the filler cap and have the fresh oil from the bypass filter go straight to the valves.

Yea I know having it mixed with what little oil was left in there would shorten the life of it but not a whole lot. I got the information belowoff the amsoil website. I dont run my truck off-road much, Idont take a million short trips, and I dont drive it hard so technically according to the makers of Amsoil I should be able to run it for 1 year or 25k whichever comes first under Normal Service. Seeing that I just switched over I more or less planned to change it at 10k. I really dont think I'm pushing the limit considering how long the oil should last. I will check it often though believe me and will get it tested at 5k probably. I aint taking chances. I will see if this stuff reallly does what it claims to do.
