Ram 3500 Factory Order
Can someone that can give me an estimate of how long it takes to get a truck from the factory email me with a reply?
I am looking to order a 3500 diesel 4X2 auto trans quad cab.
I ask 6 people and I get 6 different answers. If anyone has ordered in the past how long did it take?
My email is bfarley001@yahoo.com

my 08 was ordered aug 16 and in my driveway sept 26. Pretty good since I live in canada. It left the factory on sept 7, so not to long of a wait. Dealer said it takes from 6 to 8 weeks and when your name is on the truck they respect the delivery time *give and take*
I was kind of hoping to get some insider info on what delivery would be if I ordered now, late November. I know the plant closes for two weeks for the holidays. Does anyone think that is all possible that I could expect delivery by mid February or earlier? We have a trip south planned for February 25th and am worried.
You shouldn't have any problem. I would order asap though. With the holidays and plant shut-downs, give yourself a little more than the standard 8 weeks. I ordered my 2500 on May 22nd and I picked it up on July 20th. The actual order/building of my Ram took less time than the delivery. It was built within 3 weeks but delivery took about six weeks - freight car, freight car, small town stopovers, then a truck carrier at the end (which actually only took a day!)
Big Hook, thank you for your reply. Apparently from what you said there is a way to track your order since you knew it was built in 3 weeks. Can you tell me how I can do this? I ordered Ram 3500 Diesel yesterday and am worried i may not get it by February 20th when we leave on a long planned and paid for vacation which will be costly to cancel and reschedle.
Thanks again for yours and all others who have good knowledge of the proccess.

bfarleysr, your selling Dealer receives bi-weekly or sometimes weekly updates/progress of all ordered vehicles.
They print it out and post it usually in the Sales Managers office. Your salesman will be more than happy to show
you where your truck is at. Each stage will have a code assigned to it. They will be able to explain it to you.
I believe there is a web page somewhere that explains this also but I am at a loss as to remembering where it is.
The info seemed to be a little outdated though regarding anything built after 2003.
I live in Wisconsin which may be the reason mine took so long to travel here once it started it's freight journey.
Could have been the time of year too. I dunno. All the small town layovers drove me crazy.

I factory ordered a 1500 Mega Cab 3 weeks ago. It shipped last week from St. Louis. I have no idea when it will be here, but I ws impressed with the build time. We order alot of trucks through our fleet program and the dealer expedited the build for me. My guess is 5-6 weeks from the time of the order.
