I run Amsoil in everything, have for years... Of course since I live in Superior (Headquarters of Amsoil) it's really easy to find. Wix oil filters, Amsoil Ea air filters.
I just purchased my Ram used, I'm going to do my diff service tomorrow, hope I don't find the dreaded broken clips
Well, I can't speak for Frenchy... I used to use Castrol conventional in my RX-7 since it couldn't use synthetic. I figure any of the major brand synthetics are head and shoulder above the dino oils. I use Amsoil since they make it here and it's readily available. If you get dealer or preferred customer pricing it's pretty competitive too...
Anyone use Castrol Syntec (fully synthetic)? The dealer recommends it and at Wally World it is 22 bucks for 5 quarts, not bad.
I used it in my 5.0 Mustang for many years and had no problems. If I go synthetic in the RAM, this would be my choice. I am going to use a MOPAR filter because if it is good enough for them to give a lifetime warranty, then it will work for me. I will change it when the dash says (oil change) it's time. It started doing this @ 2500 miles and now has 2900 miles. The dealer said bring it in @ 3000 miles for it's first change. It should be going tomorrow.
I'm gonna let the dealer do the first couple of changes. Free coupons, and I'll see what oil they use to see if I will continue to have them do the changes.
I always used Motorcraft 5W20 semi-synthetic in my 01 F150 and it never used a drop and looked new inside the valve cover.
I use mobil 1 in everything including my bike...for anyone who is wondering about this ZMAX STUFF is is well worth it. I have noticed a good bit of power and substancial milage for a 6000lb truck. @65mph i usually get 21-22mpg any 4.7L owners can appreciate that.
just put castrol syntec in today for the first time. i also put a fram tough guard filter on. i wish i had seen this thread yesterday when i went to kmart and paid $7.20/qt. dammit. i saw a post from a member regarding fram filters not being good. can anyone expand on that?
