no taillights
its is definitly what abarmby said but I don't want to replace the fuse box
Is there anyway to maybe test the switch for the parking lights and taillights maybe it just needs a new switch? We can "jump" the relay making the taillights and parkiung lights to work.
All the bulbs work in the taillights.
It is a combination of parking lights and taillights.

But I wouldn't think that the electrical circuits are not too dissimilar......?
Does your truck have a multi plexed power distribution and control system like the 3rd gens do?
If you have jumpered the relay and got the lights to work by putting a livefeed to them, then at least you know that your wiring and earths etc to the rear of the truck are working fine.
You now need to concentrate on moving forward of that point, towards the switches and battery.
Does your truck have a "front contol module"?
If it does like my 03 Hemi, it needs a good earth return to make it signal and turn on your park lamp relay.
The higher resistance of the corroded earth return path, deep within the fuse box, stops this from happening.
That's whta I found in my lighting problem.
Here's a copy of the information in the manual on my 03:-
FCM OPERATIONAs messages are sent over the PCI bus circuit, thefront control module reads these messages and controlspower to some of the vehicles electrical systemsby completing the circuit to ground (low side driver)or completing the circuit to 12 volt power (high sidedriver). The following functions are Controlled bythe Front Control Module:² Headlamp Power with Voltage Regulation² Windshield Wiper “ON/OFF†Relay Actuation² Windshield Wiper “HI/LO†Relay Actuation² Windshield Washer Pump Motor² Fog Lamp Relay Actuation² Park Lamp Relay Actuation
² Horn Relay Actuation
Note here, it makes direct reference to switching/completing circuits to the "ground side" and specifically, the Park lamp relay.
The FCM bolts directly to the side of my fuse box (integrated Power Module) and controls the power distributin to various devices through it.
Try and get a manual and look for this type of FCM control through your fuse box.
If you have this type of system, you can bet it's a corroded earth path in your fuse box.
Hope this helps???
Al.
I hope its only my light switch and just happens to not work on the parking light setting i don't knoiw how to test it.And I don't want to spill 65 bucks on a new switch if its useless.
I have a 02 quad cab and I have the same problem. I tried changing the headlight switch and that was a waste of money. Fuses, relays, and bulbs are fine so it probaly is corrosion within the fuse box or somewhere within the line. I'll be checking mine tomorrow and i'll let you know if that's my problem.
Vinmac any clue what was your problem?
Well it wasnt my switch which sucks since I bought one thinking it was. Anyone need a light switch for a (1st edition3rd gen) (2002-2005?)? Good price.
Going to the local dodge dealer to see what they can do in a bit.

Probably is which will SUCK anyone got a used one that works? anyone know of where I can get one cheap?
I went to the dealer and they said $95 to just test it so i didnt do it (RIP OFF). I got them to print a wiring diagram off so I will check that out. This sucks I try to save for college and something comes up with the truck or my snowmobile and I refuse to take money from my parents since I didn't earn it.
