RE: Largest wheel/tire combo
Not positive but pretty sure the SMALLEST rim you can go is 17" due to the rotors.. Might want to check on that. As for 35s depending on your backspacing yes you can fit them with a leveling kit on 1500. Also most people on here say not to go over 35s on a 1500 due to the weakness of the IFS.

RE: Largest wheel/tire combo
I have 35X12.50/18's on my 2006 Regular Cab 1500 with a 2" Tough Country leveling kit. But, that is how it came when I bought it used. I have been off-road, albeit not extreme, and not had any issues. However, the 35's are tucked in pretty tight, particularly towards the rear of the front wheel wells. I have also read that typically 33's are the largest recommended on 1/2 ton trucks with IFS front ends.

quick ? i have always ran small rims with big tires cause i wanted that sidewall traction now i can honestly say i dont understand why i would loose flex just by going with a bigger rim then a smaller rim a 35 should be a 35 just less side wall, now dont laugh at me i know its a dumb ? but i would rather ask, now if i loose a lot of flex i got my eye on a skyjacker kit
