explain in a bit more detail what they meant by you can only use the OEM key. of course you would need an OEM dodge key to place inside the bypass but that's the only thing you would need it for. I dunno what they were trying to tell you sounds a bit like you were talking to a newbie
you are exactly right - they said there is some kind of option to use some universal thing to program to the OEM key chip... however on my truck I'd have to give up a key, which I only have 2... which would mean I'd have to get another one made for me... that's all, not use the OEM key for the python system, sorry for the confusion.

Have you ever used the 556 with a truck that has the factory alarm? I did not see anything that would allow it to disable the alarm?

depends on how the factory alarm will disarm on the dodge vehicle. most vehicles will disarm through the lock and unlock wires. basically arms when you lock disarms when you unlock. some are a bit more complicated. some it can only be disarmed from the factory remote. which as far as I know means you can not do remote start on it. other than using the OEM set up for remstart. but without looking up the wiring for the truck I have no idea. i'll do that tommorrow when I work and get back to you guys. plus i'll ask a few guys i work with.

hey fireman no problem I was just thinking the guy you talked to was a complete moron or something like that. Most guys that work in mobile at least at my store are pretty passionate about cars and know what they are doing. that's why we work in that dept because it is basically the elite at that place. at least that's how it is at my store. I won't lie we are up on our pedestal lol. but some places the guys are idiots. I called another CC store looking for a set of 6.5" coax speakers. the dbag I talked to didn't know what coax speakers were.

I appreciate you checking into that. I can tell you that the factory alarm sounds if you set it (lock it fro the remote)and then open the door w/o unlocking/disarming. I tried it by setting the lock while sitting in the truck and then opening the door. Instantly sets off the alarm! Hopefully that will help answer the question.

yea that just means that you definately have the factory alarm. factory alarms don't add a whole lot. the only thing that sets them off is what you did there. some vehicles are a real bitch to do this. some you gotta splice resistors into the wires it's a real strange set up sometimes lol. i'll look er up tommorrow. what year is urs 08,07,...

Knew I forgot somthing! OK it's a quad Hemi 5.7 short bed, auto 4x4, power everything, overhead console, TPMS, fog lights, with factory alarm butNO factory remote start. It's that last part that's killing me! I've had remote start for years, till now......

what is your "factory alarm" - anything other than the typical unlock/ lock remote and the horn beeps if the door is opened after you lock the car? or is it specifically listed on the sticker as an alarm system?

just be happy you don't have a gm with passlock2 lol. then you have to get a special bypass that costs 100 big ones and is a bitch to hook up. because all gm stuff uses data wires from ignition to BCM. or something like that. it's a very strange set up i've only seen it done on one vehicle.
The passlock system is actually very easy to bypass...once you figure out which passlock system you're looking at (pass-I and there's a couple versions of pass-II). My 2000 camaro has the pass-II...the resistor pellet is in the ignition key on that model. All you do is find the value of the resistor with a multi-meter, drop the kick panel, disconnect the two wires coming from the tumbler and going to the BCM, put a fixed value resistor equal to the valuse of the key pellet( +-5%)inline on the BCM side of the harness.

Same concept for the pass-I except the resistor is in the ignition cylinder itself, so you have to cut a yellow wire coming from the tumbler to get the resistance value. I dunno why you guys charge $100 for that...only about 15 cents in parts.
