Default Question about Transmission Covers?

Got a question for those of you in the know. I was thinking about purchasing a Transmission cover. It's my understanding that they increase the capacity of transmission fluid, thus keeping the transmission cooler....

I went to "Yourcovers.com" who basically sell PML's....PML's cost start at $220.00 and goes upward....Does anyone know if this is the going price? And if not, does anyone know if it can be purchased cheaper?

And is it even worth the cost?

Check Moe's. They start at $200 there.

Get you the pretty replacement drivers side pillar with the temp gauge. Run it to the tranny and monitor the temp. If the fluid don't ever get too hot, you'd be wasting you money on a cover that nobody will ever see, except the guy who changes your oil.
The pillar/gauge setup will look cool as hell and is not expensive at all.

Besides, why you need a higher fluid capacity tranny, I hear you never leave your house...

Does look kinda slick. What's involved with installation on an '03? Is there a tap on the 545FRE?

I don't think so, but I've never put one in, although I've toyed with the idea for a while now. I know the pillar is about $50 and you can get a temp gauge with the wire and probe for about the same. I'll pm my local Hemi performance shop guy on the forum for the real performance guru's I frequent as well and have an answer for you tomorrow. I'd bet you gotta drill and tap it yourself though, if I was to hazard a guess.

My Trans Temp Probe Tapped Right Into A Existing Bolt Hole In My Trans... Autometer Told Me Where To Find it And They Sent Me An Adaptor (For Free) To Adapt To The Probe They Gave Me With The Guage..

Ran The Wire To My Pillar W/ Running Light Ignition Vwala... Took Me About 50 Minutes For My Trans, And 20 Minutes For My Oil Pressure.

I Have Pics On My Comp At Work.. I'll Show Em' Tomorrow.

So there is a bolt that allows a probe to actually be in the tranny fluid? All the bolts on mine are outside the gasket. For the cost of the A-pillar guage, new A-pillar handgrip, plus drilling and tapping the pan, seems easier to just put in a PML the next time I change the fluid, and not sweat it. I don't care who sees it, I'm the guy changing the fluid anyway. What am I missing?

That cool looking pillar, man...[8D]

Seriously though, I think if I had a question whether or not mytranny was getting too hot while towing, I'd want a gauge to know excactly where it's at. I know that by having more fluid capacity, you will run a little cooler, but all the same, I'd want to know how hot it's running.
