[ul][*]this is really a pointless conversation about which brand is better.[*]IT ONLY TAKES10 WATTS OR LESSOF PURE DISTORTION TO KILL MOST SPEAKERS.[*]If you have a crappy headunit, bad install and a cheapo amp your system will still sound like sh*t.[*]Its facotry 6x9's in the doors produce some real bass. And what's wrong with the walmart pioneers?? I think they sound good.....hell I think they sound just as good as Alpine S's. It doesn't matter what speaker is better, it about how you do your settings (equalizer)from your headunit whether you want bass or high treble (like me) and what kind of music you listen to. The "walmart" pioneers do just fine with my headbangin metal I listen to with the settings I put them on with the cd player.Don't actually have them, but had it done in my last car with tweeters and people always had to turn it down because it was so high....Anyway, I'd rather let my exhaust be heard than my music.
I would agree with just about everything viper says. distortion kills speakers. but viper I can bet I can build a 1000 watt system that's louder than ur 200 watt as long as it's built properly. while I agree with you box size placement and port tuning and many other things are added into the equation but you are a fool if you think that just because you have the perfect arrangement of speakers in ur car your's will always be louder than someone else. That's just assuming that everyone else does it wrong. which damn sure aint true. 200 watt system properly built will be louder than a 1000 watt built ****tily. there's no doubt in that.
not sure I can agree with your logic thata 200 watt 12" sub with a 200 watt amp will be just as loud as a 1000 watt 12" sub on a 1000 watt amp. once again in this situation we are assuming everything is built properly.
we are both saying the same thing honestly but you can't make the assumption everyone does it wrong except for you. best saying i've every heard is that it's 99% install and 1% product.
and I'm still waiting for a scorecard for how two kicker CVX's metered a 151 db.

Now.... getting back to the guys window issue (since no one else wants to).... if you lost a part from your window assembly, and you don't know what it is, the best thing to do will be to take it to the dealer and tell them that something fell out. Chances are, they can figure it out real quick, and I doubt it will be real expensive to fix. It's nothing we are going to be able to diagnose for you here on the forum.

So if you change your stock speaker's out they will sound worse correct i just put in some alpine type s speakers in the front and it sounds decent when ever thing is in the middle but when you fade to the front they sound like ****.

The worst thing for a speaker is to be over-driven by a underpowered amp. When you drive the output on an amp up too far, you get "clipping", which means that the sound wave is chopped off. You have heard of a sine wave, right? It's a visual representation of a simple, pure tone.

You would hear a smooth, musical note. Now, think of the max output of an amp as a tube that the wave has to fit through (represented below by the dotted line). When you increase the level higher than the amp can handle, the wave doesn't shrink to fit the tube; it just cuts off the tops and the bottom of the wave so it can fit in.

That's what distortion is, the altering of the sound wave. Just snipping off those tips has a big effect on the sound. There is a real difference in the sound depending on how sharp the "edges" are where the clipping occurred. Perfect, sharp corner edges cause buzzy, hard edged sounds. Rounded, smooth edges give a smooth sound. Depending on how the amp is designed (and this is where good quality amps come into play), you might not notice a bit of clipping.

This is where the real problem begins. Say you have good speakers and a cheap amp. You turn the volume up to try to get louder, until you reach the limits of your amp and you start really clipping your sound. It's not a smooth movement for the speaker cone, it's a sharp transition that really punishes your speaker. It's the equivalent of making a turn by yanking the steering wheel instead of just turning it; it puts a lot of stress on the tires, shocks, frame, body, and even the driver for that matter.
So where was I going with this? Oh, yeah.... your sound is worse when you turned your fader to just the front speakers because you simply didn't have as much sound filling the interior. If you had tried it with the stock speakers, it would have sounded worse too. The Alpines might require more power to do the job than the stock speakers, so if you fade to the front they might sound weaker. It's all about balance, Daniel-San... wax on, wax off, breath in, breath out, good speakers, good amp.
If you are going to push the volume up, you have to have more amp than you do speakers. You are going to get to a point where it's as loud as you want it; if the amp reaches it's limit first, the sound is gonna suck. Most quality speakers will handle enough power to make it as loud as you want, unless you are not doing it for you but trying to annoy people 100ft away from you. If that's the case, hopefully you will outgrow that soon, but if not, that enters a whole new realm of car audio with a new group of gurus.
Class, thank you for your attention, and there will be a pop quiz tomorrow. No running in the hallways!
Well done Jedi Master! Now I understand the power of the force and the ways of the speaker Jedi!
