ive always been a fan of diesel....but i dont think in a 1500....if you want the diesel just step it up to the 2500 or 3500....either a 5.9 like littlefrogger has.....or what id do is invest in that 6.7 CTD. dream truck would have to be a 3500 megacab loaded with lift and rims....you all know what im talking about....with the 6.7 CTD

In the news today:

Diesel fumes causes brain malfunction.... plus it is much more of a polutant than even gasoline is..... not to mention it stinks, its loud.... if you don't haul a heavy trailer or move 10 ton of hay you don't need it... flash - owning a diesel is not a status symbol
Ok, I haven't heard of the fumes causing brain malfunction, however I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be inhaling the fumes of a gasser on a regular basis either, but diesels are actually less of a pollutant than gassers, diesels are documented to be at LEAST 30% better on fuel economy than an equivalent gasser, releasing less carbon dioxide into the air. Yes the big dark clouds that come from diesel pipes, soot, looks bad but most of that actually is too big to stay in the air and it falls back to the earth, not adding to our global warming problem.

Have you forgot that Chrysler has made the Enviromentally Friendly jeep CRD diesel??? Diesels have a bad image in this country not b/c of pollution, but b/c the big brothers back in the 80's. Diesel cars back then were unreliable and did pollute quite a bit. Diesel technology has come a long way since then. They also get a bad rap b/c of equal taxation on fuels in this country, which causes our Diesel prices to be more expensive than unleaded, however in most other countries, diesel is actually about a 1 cheaper per gallon. At todays prices, if the 30% better mileage factor remains true, the amount of money you spend on gas would not change, and instead of getting 370 miles to a tank, you'd get about 480...

Would I get a diesel 1500??? Absolutely... Diesels are not "Status Symbols," they have a reputation of being a reliable, rock solid engine that will give you years of trouble free service. With as many miles as I put on a truck, I would love to have a diesel rig...

i just hope dodge keeps making changes for the better and not worst. bcause the company that sells the $2500 car just bought dodge corporation and i heard they were going to cheapen em up. i hope they don't end up like the toy's
Chrysler will be importing the TaTa Ace mini-truck, battery powered. It's a small cart style work truck. Tata's not buying Chrysler. However I would love to see the Tata Nano hit the states. $2,500 bucks and 50 mpg's, I'd drive it around town...

i completly agree. however, it is a good idea for a 1500 and i see nothing against it, however i would just go to the next level and get a 2500 to match it. thats all im saying about it. i just see a 1500 witha diesel...being a little "weird" but thats my opinion. i just believe the heavier duty trucks should be the ones for diesel.....a 1500 diesel just isnt for me but im sure many others will be happy. my diesel will be atleast a 2500....but i dont see my self buying one for a long time since i already have plans for a new truck which will most likely be a 1500 and a hemi which is gas

Well unfortunantly, if it were any other big business that wanted your property, they would be doing the same thing, it's not just the japs there buddy, that's just the way business works. However I would find it hard to believe that if Toyota wanted the land that the store is on, they didn't offer your dad an amount of money that is probably well over what it's worth. I've dealt with a couple of situations like that, and it's always easier to take the money and leave. If the big business wants it, they're going to get it, sorry for you luck.

Even though it does suck, Toyota earned they're right into Nascar in my opinion. Toyota employes 32,135 US workers in its U.S. product development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing operations (more than any of the big 3), while an additional 79,060 workers were directly employed in new-vehicle, dealer-related operations.

I don't know if a lot of you guys know this, but our economy is a little shaky right now. Any company that wants to come from overseas and pay US workers over 16 Billion a year in wages is ok with me. That doesn't mean I want to rush out and buy they're product, but if I was in need of a job and they were to hire me, I wouldn't turn it down...

bwhite757makes a pretty damn good point. They do employee a lot of people in the US. Down in San Antonio where they build the new Tundras, not only does the factory employ lots of people, there have been hundreds if not thousands of businesses that have arisen or moved to San Antonio to supply parts for the Tundra and services for the factory.

And 2005cobrakiller, why are they trying to close your family's business? Did they make an offer to buy the land/business?

Lastly, if they made a 1500 diesel, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. What a lot of you may be forgetting is that they're not going to put a massive diesel like the 5.9 or 6.7 CTD in the 1500. Those definitely belong in the 2500 & 3500's.It will be a much smaller diesel that will be quiet, clean, and very efficient. It should be able to tow more than the Hemi, while probably getting 40% better gas mileage. Take a look at the 3.2L mercedes blutec diesel. That's a fine engine. Plus, not only are diesels typically more reliable, they can run for 2 - 3 times as long and vehicles with diesel engines have much better resale values. That all sounds good to me.

first off I love the way a diesel sounds and smells, you get that black mark on your driveway if you park it in the same spot everyday. If you go to a truck stop its filled up in less than half the time than at a regular gas station.
Even if you dont tow or haul a diesel will have its adv
Better gas mileage, and since it won't be a beast like the current cummins it won't drink that much diesel.
Secondly it'll last a hell of a lot longer
thirdly better resale value.

Unfortunately with toyo coming out with a light duty mid 2010 I'm sure it'll trump dodges light duty diesel.

And yes toyota will take over NASCAR, they just had a huge win Sunday. It took them about 3 years to get good in the truck series racing and now they are the dominating factor. But you know you can't blame em, theyre "moving forward" while American companies are just wishing for their glory days to come back but not doing anything about it.

I know some people on here said they hate tacos, yet that is the best made small pickemup truck on the market.
